That said however he showed plenty of promise on debut in a race that has since worked out fairly well and shaped as thought todays step up in trip on ground that is likely to be testing could be just the key. Bred to appreciate conditions and has plenty of stamina in the breeding so could well be a blot running from a mark for the first time for the in form Michael Bell.

Comes here eased a couple of lb’s and with the added claim of Bradley Harris 5lb so is potentially well handicapped for todays run. Yard are in good order and have a great record here in the last 12 months of 5/17 for a near 30% strike rate. Bradley Harris takes the ride and he operates at around 25% for the yard and is 4 wins from 6 rides at the track in the last 12 months.

Spot On Soph 1pt win only 8/1 – yet to score over hurdles but that’s not to say that there has been no encouragement in her 11 tries at the smaller obstacles. Put in a very good display at Sedgefield at the back end of 2022 in a race that worked out well afterwards and this would be considered a significant drop in class from her last outing in this sphere. She was far from disgraced in that much higher grade and if able to put recent efforts behind her could go well from a handy looking mark.

Fox’s Socks 1pt win only 8/1 – Runner up in this race last year under today’s rider who will be seeking only her second career victory. She was very unfortunate to run into what looked like a handicap blot in this race last year and finished some 15 lengths ahead of her next nearest rival. Returns for another tilt today some 7lb below that mark that on any other day would have seen a very comfortable victory. Will need to bounce back from a lacklustre stint over fences but has placed twice from 3 runs over CD so that would not be out of character.

Goes from the bottom of the handicap from a mark that could well be exploited if able to reproduce a run similar to the one when last seen here behind Saxon King. A run anywhere near that form could have this one a good few lb’s in hand today.

Pyramid Place 1pt win only 11/2 – Has been in great form over hurdles of late for his connections so will no doubt be arriving here back on the level for the first time since joining the yard from John Gosden in good order. Has won on heavy over obstacles including on his last start so should have no worries with the conditions and on best form as a maiden on the flat looks fairly well treated if the return to this sphere has no negative effects. Saffie Osbourne takes the ride and she has been in excellent form this season too.
