Rich Belief 1pt win only 8/1 – Consistent sort over from Ireland who ought to be able to get involved from this current mark and with a very valuable 5lb taken off by S Bowen. Made an encouraging return to action in a big field at Navan last time out and this yard has to be taken serious when sending them across the water. Conditions look ideal and has the blinkers back on that have bought much of his success to date.

Hello Zabeel 0.5pt EW 25/1 (4 places B365) – Not been at his best in 2 runs for his new yard but as a result comes here looking pretty well treated. Was 3rd in this race from 5lb higher last year and gets a very valuable 5lb taken off by Luke Catton. Has won from higher marks, will like the conditions, ideal trip so plenty to like for one at a big price. Throw into that a few stats like connections are 3 from 10 at the track for a 30% strike with an LSP of +22, Luke Catton is 2 wins and 3 placed from 8 rides for connections for a 25% strike and a +17.5% LSP, M Blake is 6 wins and 5 placed from 30 for a 20% strike at the track with a LSP of +32 and i get very optimistic about this one.

William Hill Epic Value Handicap
Tides Of War 1pt win only 16/1 – Was 3rd in this race last year and not beaten far by Courage Mon Ami who is now rated 118. Has not been seen to the same effect since that over in Meydan but comes into this race here 10lb below last years run and is still very lightly raced and could have more to offer today. Interestingly the hood goes back on that has only ever been worn once previously and that was in this race last term, arguably his best run to date. Yards current form is a slight worry but has to be given a chance from this lowly mark.

Betfred Nifty 50 Hell Nook Handicap
Euchen Glen 1pt win only 16/1 – Veteran who’s last win came in 2021 but he is not keeping the same company here today and races from the same mark which he went close with last time out. Superbly consistent last term proving there is life in the old dog yet and put in a massive run to finish 4th in last years Ebor. So therefore it would be safe to say that the sights have been well and truly lowered. Will need to pick up a win to qualify for some of those bigger races this year and is one of only a few in here that with relish these conditions.

Shalaa Asker 1pt win only 14/1 – Can be forgiven his latest appearance when running from 5lb out of the handicap in a very hot race over a shorter than ideal trip. This company today represents a step back in grade compared to where he has been competing on large for the last 12 months and he now finds himself on a very workable mark some 3lb below his last winning one. Stats would have you believe that he is not as effective on turf but the truth is he has just run in better company than when he has gone on the AW. He is equally effective and has run consistently well in better company from a higher mark. Has a real chance today from what looks to be the right side of the draw.

Carnival Zain 1pt win only 16/1 – Struggled last term as a result of his 5 wins in the previous season, was caught out running from a very high mark and in better company and looked very firmly in the handicappers grip. Makes this reappearance today in much more suitable company and from a mark that is 6lb below his last winning one. Ideal trip, ideal ground and gets a very valuable 5lb taken off too. Has run well over CD previously without troubling the judge. A small EW saver on Leap Day 50/1 (6 places Skybet) has been done too. Lightly raced, good draw and looks to be on around the right sort of mark if getting a good tow in to the race.
