Spiritual 2pt win only 9/1 (bet365 money back as free bet offer) – We have tried a different tack here today in that we are looking at the trends of the race over the form. Of course the form is not being ignored but in similar races the trends have been working well for me. With 12 of the last 20 winners being 4 years old, including the last 4 then it would be foolish not to use this as a starting block to take out almost half of the field. Of the last 8 winners 7 had run either 27 or 28 days ago and only 1 runner fits that bill today, Spiritual who is todays selection. The exception to the above trend can also be accounted for as it was a fixture that falls either way (28 days or 35 days) that brings into play Sirona who ran 35 days ago in the Conquer fillies at Goodwood, a race that has produced 3 of the last 8 winners. She also has the beating of the selection on a previous meeting at Newmarket but that was on Heavy ground and i’d fancy our lesser exposed selection to turn that form around here today. John Gosden’s horses are not rushed and this one comes here with the yard bang in form.

Nanna’s Sparkle 1pt win only 11/1 – Consistent sort who has hit the frame on both occasions this term, the latest of which was in defeat to today’s favourite Ruby’s Profit who is up another 6lb and starting to look exposed. The selection was not beaten far that day and now has that pull in the weights too. Looks like she will be suited by the track and its downhill run and if ridden prominently the speedy sort could take some pegging back.

Michaela’s Boy 0.5pt EW 28/1 (5 places General) – Consistent sort who ran well here on his latest outing when beaten for a second time by the reopposing Spartan Arrow. Far better off at the weights here today and could be capable of a big run and a reversal of that form. Looks the pick of the R Cowell yards 5 runners here who excels with his speedy 5f sprinters, only 2lb above last winning mark and still looks fairly treated on his old form.

Damysus 0.5pt EW 16/1 – Looked very impressive towards the business end in the Dante when finishing runner up behind Pride of Arras who had gained first run and having a perfect tow into the race that day. The selection on the other hand was keen early on, raced wide and was not asked to pick up until the bird had flown. John Gosden’s yard have since hit form and this one looks bred for this extra yardage too so should get closer today. Stanhope Garden 20/1 from our Flat horses to follow also represents decent EW value.

Vice President 0.5pt EW 22/1 – Capable of much better than what has been shown in 2 runs for the new yard and has the opportunity here to step forward on those recent runs. Still very unexposed and open to plenty of improvement having only had the 5 runs. Todays 5lb claimer Warren Fentiman puts this one down onto a very workable mark and a better run can be expectedfrom this son of Galileo who has produced some of the most noteable winners of all time over this CD including 5 Derby winners.

Chartwell Jock 1pt win only 5/1 – Andrew balding has won 3 of the last 7 running’s of this race and comes here again with a leading charge in the form of todays selection. Has shown a tendency to carry his head high on previous runs and gets cheek pieces applied for the first time which could help this one settle and bring out a bit more. Was blocked for a run when last seen and was not beaten far despite the trouble in a decent looking race. All 3 of the above mentioned winners have come in these colours and they are now 3/3 in this race in that same period.

Purest Time 0.5pt EW 28/1 – We were on this one last time out at Chester when he was a tad disappointing having been drawn in the widest of 13 stalls. He may well have needed the run too and we are happy to stick with him here in a race that the yard has done well in over recent years. They have won the race with 2 of their last 4 runners and had one placed too. A difficult one to assess but given another chance with a very positive jockey booking in a weaker looking contest.
