Both of those wins however came in the hands of Sean Kirrane who opts to ride the yards other runner today so the chance is taken that he has had the option and knows a little something that we don’t. The horse takes a marked drop in class today and is only 2lb above his last winning mark.

Finished well behind a few of these last time out including today’s favourite but that was on a first run back from going over hurdles so he may have needed the sharpener. Yard are 10 wins and 11 placed from 69 with their flat runners for a near 29% place strike so a chance has to be taken with the notable booking of Hollie Doyle on board.

He had one that was travelling strongly and well in contention before coming to grief the following year, placed 3rd in 2022, won again in 2023 and placed 2nd again last year. The slight concern is his regular jockey for those rides Sean Quinlan has opted to ride Scots Poet 5/1 for Ewan Whillans for whom he has a decent record so a little reverse forecast has also been played.

Since then they have teamed up to place in this one on multiple occasions so its fair to say they will be trying again today. This amateur jockey is worth looking out for at Ripon with 5 wins from 6 rides but is also worth keeping on side with here today having ridden 20 of her 23 winners for the yard including a handful for these owners.

Columnist 0.5pt EW 40/1 (5 places B365) – Horses that ran at Newmarket over 6f 4 weeks previous to this race have an incredible record in this race and have provided us with 5 of the last 8 winners. 5 runners in the field al fit that bill and went head to head last time out Marchogian (1st) 7/1, American style (2nd) 14/1, Dark Cloud Rising (3rd) 20/1, Sixtygeesbaby (4th) 18/1 and the selection who was a remote 7th that day. The selctions 2 year old form is very impressive and this one should be cutting out to be a Group performer for Wathnan racing but he has proven to be a little bit tricky going down to the start early on both occasions this term including in a hood last time out. Clearly not straight forward but the switch back to James Doyle in the saddle could make all the difference today from a falling mark.
