bet365 Novices’ Championship Final Handicap Hurdle

HMS President 1pt win only 14/1 (Money Back as Free Bet offer B365) – High milage 8 year old on the flat and has done plenty of running compared to his opposition here today. Has only had 4 runs over obstacles however winning 1 and hitting the frame on the other 3 occasions. Was only narrowly denied on one of those occasions by a subsequent Class 1 winner and was giving that rival 7lb too. Opening handicap mark looks fair and he is the pick of the two runners from last years winning yard judged on jockey bookings.

16:10 Sandown 26 Apr 2025

bet365 Gold Cup Handicap Chase

O’Moore Park 0.5pt EW 16/1 – Just the 4 runs over hurdles before being quickly switched to the bigger obstacles. A switch that did not start well having failed to complete on his first two attempts. A keen going sort who will need to settle better here today but he has been improving with each run. Yet to run beyond 3 miles but this one is bred to be a staying chaser and comes from the same bloodline that has given us both a 6l winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup and The Grand National this year. Still vastly inexperienced but has been bred for exactly this sort of task. Whether this has come too soon however is yet to be seen.

16:45 Sandown 26 Apr 2025

bet365 Handicap Hurdle

Dr Eggman 1pt win only 9/1 – Ultra consistent sort who was beginning to look highly tried until finally getting his head in front at Limerick last month in a race that looks to be working out pretty well. Stepped up on that run to finish second in behind what looks to be a smart sort and does not look harshly treated stepping into handicap company for the first time. Gaining experience all the time and this seemingly slow learner could still have plenty more improvement to come.

Try Unibet’s New Same Race Multis Handicap

Divine Libra 1pt win only 8/1 – A chance is taken that this is not just a prep run for a big run at Chester next month. Yard have started to find some form and the chance is taken that this still improving 5 year old is ready to roll at the first time of asking this season. Quicker ground here today looks far more ideal than when this one was last seen and ought to be very competitive from this current mark. Acquitted himself very well in very highly contested handicaps last term and can do so again this season.

Read Richard Hannon Weekly Unibet Blog Handicap

Roundhay Park 0.5pt EW 22/1 (5 places) – One of only two horses in here over the age of 6 and is very much in the senior years of his career for sure. Was likely to have needed the run last time out and should come here much fitter today. Performed consistently last term in much higher graded races without troubling the judge and as a result has fallen a long way in the weights ahead of this run. Last win came off a mark of 79 and he also placed off the same mark around this time last year. He effectively runs from a mark of 61 today with the 5lb claim and drops into class 5 company for only the second time since April 2023 which also happened to be on his second start that term resulting in a very comfortable victory from a mark of 75. Has won 4 times from 9 runs in class 5 company. Chance is taken that this one is not over the hill just yet.

Watch Sky Sports Racing In HD Handicap

Mudamer 0.5pt EW 16/1 (4 places B365) – Very inconsistent last term following a hike in the weights after winning on his last start the previous year. Has fallen 7lb below that last winning mark as a result and will relish this faster ground today. Could be in need of this first run but with 4 places on offer we are tempted in on what looks to be a very well handicapped runner for a yard that come good around this time each year.

Tip Top Clean Convenience Handicap Chase

Paint The Dream 0.5pt EW 25/1 – Has not shown much in 4 starts for the new yard but that has been in some very good company and this rates a step back in class today. Had returned from a 650 lay off for the first of those runs and ran well for a long way in very good company on all 4 starts. Has been freshened up with a short break for this and has now fallen to an insulting mark on old form but will need to rediscover something to get involved. Conditions look ideal and this could be the last chance saloon but the chance is taken that the yard have seen enough to suggest there is still something left in the tank.

16:44 Chepstow 21 Apr 2025

Tip Top Sensational Shower Handicap Hurdle

Tom Taggle 1pt win only 13/2 – Comfortably held in all 5 starts to date but they have all come over inadequate trips and they have not all been void of promise. Has been bred for this longer trip today and will no doubt go on to make a decent staying chaser. Was only coaxed into the race having been sat off the pace throughout at Taunton 2 runs back but looked a dour stayer crying out for this extra yardage. Yard come here in form and winners have come from that Taunton race. Will need to be forgiven latest run however but today’s quicker ground should be ideal.

14:00 Plumpton 21 Apr 2025

Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle

Press Your Luck 1pt win only 14/1 – Appears to be going the wrong way since returning from 637 days off the track but he was entitled to be in need of the run when tailed off against a very good field on return that has produced 6 winners since and despite finishing last on his latest run that would have been a big boost to the fitness. That run came on bottomless ground and this one needs it much quicker like he will encounter today. Both runs will have put this one back somewhere near full fitness and it interesting that the yard have kept hold of this one despite the trouble they have had getting him back on track. Has dropped to a very attractive mark and comes here with this family pairing (trainer/jockey) bang in form.

14:35 Plumpton 21 Apr 2025

BetGoodwin Sussex Champion Chase Handicap Chase

Westport Cove 1pt win only 11/2 – Has acquitted himself pretty well in 4 beginners chase runs to date and they have come in some pretty stiff company. The latest was without doubt the best of the 4 runs when only defeated a nk by a rival rated 146 over fences, they ran off level weights that day and we could be looking at a potential top grade performer dropping into handicap company for the first time in this sphere. Bred to make a much better chaser and looks a big chance in Willie’s pursuit of the Trainers Championship.

13:55 Redcar 21 Apr 2025

Celebrating 60 Years Of Cleveland Mountain Rescue Handicap

Little Muddy 1pt win only 13/2 – Looks regressive over the last 12 months but something in the form looks deliberate, a run on the AW which doesn’t suit, Heavy ground run which again does not suit. As a result this one has fallen 20lb in the weights since this time last year, when he was running well enough in much better company. Now some 17lb below his last winning mark, which was almost 2 years ago but his form from last year alone tells us he retains enough to pick up a race like this. Best form has come on quicker ground and for one reason or another things have just not fell right for this one until today.

14:30 Redcar 21 Apr 2025

Celebrating 60 Years Of Cleveland Mountain Rescue Handicap

Wiggins B 1pt win only 7/1 – Hard to make a case for on his first 3 runs but has been bred to be smarter than what has been shown and more can be expected on ideal ground from what looks a fair mark on this ones handicap debut. Yard have started the season well and despite the last few seasons bucking the trend, they have done well with their runners at the track and are very profitable to follow with a LSP of +75 here.

Jump Season Finale Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle

Quaresome 1pt win only 7/1 – Needs to bounce back from a couple of lesser runs returning from a break and reverts straight back to hurdles having finished last on his latest outing making his chase debut. Todays switch back to hurdles and a drop back to 2 mile both rate big positives for this runner and he has always gone well fresh too so the lay off is a plus not a minus. Still very lightly raced for a 7 year old and he has some decent looking place form at this trip in the book. Capable of picking up a race of this magnitude, especially now he has been eased in the weights.

17:12 Carlisle 19 Apr 2025

Ladies Night 5th July Handicap Hurdle

Rioja Alta 1pt win only 4/1 – Comfortable winner over todays trip at Sedgefield 2 starts back and followed that up with a good second in behind a subsequent winner who looked to be well ahead of the handicapper when coming out to win again next time upped 9lb. Goes from the same mark again here today and looks good for another big run. Blinkers retained and they seem to be the key to getting this one going well.

15:09 Newton Abbot 19 Apr 2025

Trojan Motor Company And Instant Justice Handicap Chase

Begin The Luck 1pt win only 15/2 – CD winner with heavy ground form who now sits 8lb below his last winning chase mark. Back up in trip on this very familiar stomping ground could be just the tonic to get this one back to winning ways. Yard have been in good form of late and had a winner here last week. So to summarise we have CD form, Heavy ground winner, yard going well and a very good claimer on board to top things off.

15:15 Haydock 19 Apr 2025

Unibet Middle Distance Veterans’ Handicap Chase

Eldorado Allen 1pt win only 10/1 – Made a couple of costly blunders over the National fences last time out and was pitched in a little too deep the time before in the Denman chase. Would likely have stood up to that test in his heyday but this looks a more realistic company to be running in nowadays. Had previously run well over a similar trip in behind last years winner of this race Numitor at Cheltenham and has since eased in the weights giving him a massive 14lb pull with that rival.

16:49 Huntingdon 19 Apr 2025

Buy In Advance At Huntingdon Racecourse Handicap Hurdle

Shibuya Song 1pt win only 16/1 – Won fresh from a break back in September in a race that has since worked out very well. Failed to shine in two runs following that and has since been given some time off track. Only 4lb higher than when a comfortable winner at Worcester back in September and will still be open to plenty of improvement in this sphere being so unexposed. Needs to bounce back but is potentially still very well handicapped.

14:25 Musselburgh 19 Apr 2025

Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Silver Arrow Handicap

Rockymountainway 1pt win only 17/2 – Very consistent sort last year with 2 wins and 4 placed efforts from just 7 runs including a good second from this mark over CD when last seen. Returns to action having sat out the Winter and holds bags of potential for improvement here today. Went well on return last year and can do so again today as a possible improver.

BetUK All-Weather Vase Apprentice Handicap

Party Island 1pt win only 7/1 – This ones record here over CD reads 4 wins from 6 runs and he now sits back on the same mark for the latest of those wins which came around this time last year. He won with plenty in hand that day just as he has done here over CD previously. Clearly saves his best for this track and is the sole runner on the card for a yard that know how to win here.

14:05 Lingfield 18 Apr 2025

BetUK All-Weather Vase Middle Distance Handicap

Koy Koy 0.5pt EW 28/1 (Will Hill) – Has a little bit to prove returning from 3 months off the track and having undergone wind surgery. Hopefully it will have the desired effect and return him to the form he was in at the back end of last year. Won from just 2lb lower in November over a similar trip in a race that has worked out well since and was sandwiched between a couple of very unexposed subsequent winners next time out from todays mark which suggests there is still some juice left in this one. Has 7lb taken off by a claimer that despite inexperience should have a bright future ahead so the chance is taken from a mark which is effectively well below what we perceive to be his best at somewhere around the 95 mark.

14:40 Lingfield 18 Apr 2025

BetMGM All Weather Vase Mile Handicap

Kalamunda 1pt win only 17/2 – Ultra consistent on the AW circuit and despite having gone up 15lb in the weights this season could still have another win at this level in the lockup. Missed the break last time out when upped in grade and still managed to run on for a decent 4th in a much deeper race than this. Eased in grade slightly here and has a big pull in the weights with a couple of these from previous meetings.

16:20 Lingfield 18 Apr 2025

BetUK All-Weather Vase Marathon Handicap

Dreams Adozen 0.5pt EW 66/1 (4 places Will Hill) – Has something to prove having not beaten a rival in her last two starts, both of those runs however have come in better company and she has finished 1st and 2nd when tried over this trip in her last two outings in this grade. Connor Beasley has travelled down to Lingfield to ride just the two for this yard today and he’s been in fine form of late. Likes to lead but that could set this one up for the fast finishing Red Flyer but we remain hopeful of a place.

14:25 Newcastle 18 Apr 2025

BetMGM Fillies’ And Mares’ Championships Handicap

Pasha 1pt win only 14/1 – Makes her stable debut and has been thrown in pretty deep for it too. I’m guessing that the yard has seen something to suggest that the drop in trip could well unlock potential that we are yet to see as they send her on a 500 mile round trip as their sole runner at the track today. Interesting that yard jockey S D Bowen opts to come here for this one over the yards runners at Lingfield and Chelmsford where he rides far more often. His record at this track reads 5 wins and 2 placed from just 19 so he rides the track well too.

15:35 Newcastle 18 Apr 2025

BetUK All-Weather Sprint Handicap

Run Boy Run 1pt win only 10/1 + Golden Mind 0.5pt EW 50/1Run Boy Run went very close over CD last time out when narrowly being denied by todays favourite Marshman. He was only beaten a nk that day and has been handled far more considerately since. Reopposes here having been freshened up some 6lb better off at the weights and from what would appear to be the right side of the draw should give the fav something to think about here. Richard Fahey’s runner Golden Mind is more miss than hit but at 50/1 on a going day with a good draw represents excellent EW value here. Has the beating of one of todays market principals in Heathcliff over this trip at Kempton and a reproduction of that run would see this one go close at a massive price.

14:50 Chelmsford City 18 Apr 2025

Watch Live Racing At bet365 Handicap

Call Glory 1pt win only 12/1 – Has done all of his running to date at 5-6f and this will be a first step beyond that. Has got stamina on the dams side of the breeding that suggests the step up will be just fine. Also shapes through his races that it could actually bring out a little more rather than hinder. Looking past his last run which was very poor he put in a very big run from a seemingly impossible draw at Southwell to finish just 1 length behind a twice subsequent winner. Should have more to offer judged on that evidence. Talented 5lb claimer has a 29% strike at the track too which gives a further boost in confidence.

Flat Horses To Follow 2025

ANDESITE

  • Sire: Pinatubo (IRE)
  • Dam: Katie’s Diamond (FR)
  • Dam’s Sire: Turtle Bowl (IRE)

Winner on debut in a race that has worked out pretty well since but failed to follow that up when entered in the G2 Gimcrack at York in August. That race is another that has worked out very well since with 3 G1 wins coming out of it since. This one was wrapped up after that run and will likely have a few big targets this season on the sprint circuit and he would be more than entitled to get involved in a few too.

The Commonwealth Cup could be a likely target, this race gave Karl Burke his first ever G1 winner. If the sights were to be lowered there are limited options at Group level over here and the King George Stakes would rate another option.

ARCHIVIST

  • Sire: Dubawi (IRE)
  • Dam: Provenance (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Galileo (IRE)

Holds an entry in the Derby and currently sits at around 100/1 for that race which in all fairness is not beyond this one. Runner up on his last 3 starts but will be crying out for the extra yardage and the form of his races to date looks solid enough to warrant a tilt at a big prize. Has moved to William Haggas for the season ahead and although connections will want to run this one at the highest level he currently sits on a mark of just 86 so he will be one to watch with a keen eye if they’re looking to get a run into him beforehand.

Has not been straightforward and a lowering of the sights would be nice to see, but at 100/1 I’d not be put off a few quid EW for the big one.

CATALYSE

  • Sire: Starspangledbanner (AUS)
  • Dam: Moondrop (FR)
  • Dam’s Sire: Toronado (IRE)

Could only manage 12th in last years Coventry Stakes but was only beaten just over 4 lengths and was on the wrong side of the draw with only one runner from single digit stalls finishing ahead of him. That race has since given us 5 Group and 2 Listed winner since along with countless other solid placed efforts and wins. The most notable was Camille Pissario who went on to win the G1 Prix Jean Luc at Longchamp. Coincidentally she was the other single digit horse in the Coventry. As a result of how this run looks on paper Catalyse was given a mark of just 91 to work off which would make him a real danger in one of the Heritage Handicaps this year. The Wokingham is not really a race for 3 year olds but should the draw be kinder he would certainly be ripe for some place money. More realistic targets could be the B365 Handicap at Newmarket in July, The Stewards Cup at Goodwood in August, The Clipper at York in August. Other possible targets could be at either Newmarket or Goodwood in May who both hold valuable 3yo handicaps or again at York in June for the for the £100k Macmillian Sprint

CONSENT

  • Sire: Lope De Vega (IRE)
  • Dam: Flora Danica (IRE)
  • Dam’s Sire: Galileo (IRE)

A comfortable winner on debut over the mile at Thirsk and followed that up with a good run in behind one from the Andrew balding stable. That ones previous run had seen her run very close to an AOB filly that has since gone close in the G1 Fillies mile which looks like a huge boost to the form.

Bred to have bags of stamina and will likely be capable of a decent tilt at a few big prizes this term. Will only improve the further she goes and i would not be surprised to see her turn up at this years Arc festival at Longchamp.

COSMIC YEAR

  • Sire: Kingman (UK)
  • Dam: Passage Of Time (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Dansili (UK)

Possibly the most exciting prospect in here and the one that could be the next big thing in these familiar colours.

Won in taking style on his belated debut and looks as though there will be plenty of improvement to come from that run too. Race was run at a sedate pace and this one didn’t really need to change gears at the business end to pull away in ready fashion. Had a high head carriage which has been a trait for this bloodline but won with ears back showing that he knew his job already.

Currently 10/1 for the 2000 Guineas which will be the target as I’m not sure this one will want to go too far beyond the Mile, making the Derby a bit of an unknown. The St James Place at Royal Ascot, Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in August, The Juddmonte at York in August and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot in October will all be likely targets too.

DIGUB

  • Sire: Sea The Stars (IRE)
  • Dam: Swizzle Stick (IRE)
  • Dam’s Sire: Sadler’s Wells (USA)

Could only manage 4th on her sole start last season but was very green and became unbalanced in the dip at Newmarket. She did however despite everything going wrong stay on very promisingly hinting that there could be plenty of improvement to come this term.

Bred for further than the 7f she encountered on debut and will be a very exciting prospect stepped up in trip this term.

ENOLA HOLMES

  • Sire: Invincible Spirit (IRE)
  • Dam: Jane Marple (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Nathaniel (IRE)

Just the 4 starts to date with 3 of them coming on the AW this winter. The first of which was a comfortable win over an above average field where the form has been franked several times since. The last of those 3 runs came in a Listed event where she was far from disgraced in pretty decent looking company.

If her mark of 78 from that Listed run is not affected to heavily we could see this one bagging a few handicaps this term.

Would handle a step up in trip and could be a pretty versatile performer for her connections for the season ahead.

FAST TRACK HARRY

  • 3-y-o chestnut colt
  • Trainer: C G Cox
  • Sire: Harry Angel (IRE)
  • Dam: Olympic Runner (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Exceed and Excel (AUS)

One that sits right on the cusp of Listed/Group level who has some pretty smart form developing from his win on debut. Was unable to follow up in Listed company but far too early to write him off at that level just yet. It will be very interesting what sort of mark this one will be given to kickstart the season. One for the tracker but very much reliant on next race and handicap mark etc being just right.

GOLDEN PARADISE

  • Sire: Havana Gold (IRE)
  • Dam: Dubai Paradise (IRE)
  • Dam’s Sire: Exceed and Excel (AUS)

Comfortable winner of a decent looking race on debut that has put out a handicap winner from a mark of 86 since which would have this one looking quite comfortable at around the same sort of mark. Finished 3rd beaten 4 lengths next time out when giving away 8lb to one that has since won at Listed level suggesting that this one could either be well handicapped on return or be capable of picking up a listed race or two.

GOOD GOOD GOOD

  • Sire: Blue Point (IRE)
  • Dam: Moghamarah (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Dawn Approach (IRE)

This speedily bred and very lightly raced 4 year old will be one to look out for in the sprint handicaps this year. Sits on a very dangerous mark of around 82 and will be able to exploit that for sure. Got off the mark last term with 2 emphatic victories having not raced as a 2 year old and was unfortunate to bump into some pretty decent company thereafter. Will be open to lots of improvement and will be a very unexposed 4 year old now able to enter a broader range of contests. One to get in the Trackers for the season ahead.

GREEN IMPACT

  • Sire: Wootton Bassett (UK)
  • Dam: Emerald Green (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Galileo (IRE)

Landed a G2 win to round off a very bright start to her career last term. Twice had the beating of the very hot AOB prospect Delacroix and already holds entries in 4 G1 races for this season.

Not certain to pick up the win but will offer excellent EW value if lining up for the 2000 Guineas and will certainly offer the same value if stepped up in trip to take on this years Derby.

HIGH DEGREE

  • Sire: Too Darn Hot (UK)
  • Dam: Sealife (IRE)
  • Dam’s Sire: Sea The Stars (IRE)

Incredibly well bred Too Darn hot Colt who is yet to see the racecourse. Holds an entry in the Irish Derby.

Highly talented newcomer who is held in high regard.

RENEWAL

  • Sire: Wootton Bassett (UK)
  • Dam: Fresh Terms (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: New Approach (IRE)

A pretty ordinary start on debut was followed up with an improved performance next time out to finish 2nd. The winner that day has since hosed up in a Listed race at Sandown and other form is now coming out of that race.

Will likely operate around the mile mark and looks capable of picking up a decent prize.

SEE EMILY RUN

  • Sire: Too Darn Hot (UK)
  • Dam: Crysdal (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Dalakhani (IRE)

A winner at Goodwood on her 3rd start last term in a race that looks well above average. The runner up that day ran a good race over at the Curragh to finish second in a valuable race worth £250k and the horse that finished behind her also went on to win again next time out under a penalty which makes the form of that race look pretty solid. The selection went on to finish 4th in a Listed race at Newmarket but was given an opening mark of just 78, if that mark remains unaltered when she’s tried in handicaps it would certainly be one that could be exposed.

SEAPLANE

  • Sire: Golden Horn (UK)
  • Dam: Seaduced (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Lope De Vega (IRE)

Off the mark at the 3rd time of asking having been runner up on his first two starts. The first two races have worked out well enough and despite not much coming out of the race he won I suspect that his comfortable victory that day was a good one, beating a Sir Michael Stoute horse by just over 4 lengths.

Was thrown right in at the deep end following that in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes at Doncaster and was far from disgraced finishing 4th having gone off pretty hard in front. With his sights lowered slightly this term a G3 or G2 could well be on the cards. Will likely stay beyond the mile so will not be short of targets. Look for entries at Epsom, Ascot, Goodwood and Newmarket in particular where this yard seem to do very well with the ammo they send.

SENSORIUM

  • Sire: Kodiac (UK)
  • Dam: Reticent Angel (IRE)
  • Dam’s Sire: Dark Angel (IRE)

Well enough thought of to be entered into the Windsor Castle on his second start last term and despite finishing 14th of the 27 caught the eye from those drawn low, faded in the final furlong and showed inexperience throughout. Picked up a very average looking race at Beverley on his 4th start and that was followed up with a decent run when stepped up markedly in class in a very valuable race at the York Ebor Festival.

Was only 1 length off the very well regarded Arizona Blaze that day who was runner up in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Sprint and despite being 7lb better off at the weights that still looks a pretty strong piece of form. Was staying on very strongly that day showing that he was learning all the time and will no doubt have improved in bounds over the Winter.

A return to Ascot this June would be the ultimate and a big run could be expected in maybe the Wokingham.

SIMMERING

  • Sire: Too Darn Hot (UK)
  • Dam: Cashla Bay (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Fastnet Rock (AUS)

Highly tried last term and picked up wins in G3 and G2 company before acquitting herself very well in G1 company at both the Curragh and Longchamp. Looks capable of picking up a G1 this term and the 33/1 on offer for this years 1000 Guineas is an insult considering she only went down by just over a length to on of AOB very best fillies in Lake Victoria. Won’t want the ground too soft so be mindful of this when following.

SOCIALITE

  • Sire: Too Darn Hot (UK)
  • Dam: Liberating (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Iffraaj (UK)

Very lightly raced 4 year old who will be open to plenty of improvement still this term. Looked very inexperienced as a 3 year old having not raced as a 2 year old and could well be a surprise package around the Listed to G3 mark this year.

Wil have limited targets this term given that his handicap mark is far too high so targets such as the City Plate at Chester in July, Pomfret Stakes at Pontefract in July, Fortune stakes at Sandown in September, Robin Hood Stakes at Nottingham Oct/Nov. The Diomed Stakes at Epsom could be a possible early target in June.

STANHOPE GARDENS

  • Sire: Ghaiyyath (IRE)
  • Dam: Pure Art (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Dutch Art (UK)

Winner of an ordinary looking race at Beverley on his second outing who followed up with a much stronger looking run next time out when runner up behind the AOB trained Delacroix in the G3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket in October. He was only narrowly denied and was 4 lengths clear of the 3rd placed horse that day ahead of Sir Michael Stoute and Charlie Appleby trained runners.

Holds 3 Group 1 entries and would be a lively outsider in any of the races but i would suspect that the 2000 Guineas and Derby will be slightly beyond this one and the sights should be lowered slightly.

THE KINGS FALCON

  • Sire: Dubawi (IRE)
  • Dam: Desert Flyer (UK)
  • Dam’s Sire: Shamardal (USA)

This very aptly named 3 year old holds no current entries for the season ahead so it will be very interesting to see where they go with him. He has put in a couple of pleasing runs in decent looking races to date and should be even better this year once they decide where to go with him.

The Hampton Court or Wolferton at Royal Ascot could be possible targets to try and get the King a winner at the Royal meeting but we wait with baited breath on this one for now.

THE LION IN WINTER

  • Sire: Sea The Stars (IRE)
  • Dam: What A Home (IRE)
  • Dam’s Sire: Lope De Vega (IRE)

Won on both starts last year very impressively and will have plenty of similar targets this term to Cosmic Year (above). Only sits as 3rd favourite of these connections 3 that are entered into the 2000 Guineas so we are hoping that other possible targets may be sought. The Derby will be another big target and for now we wait to see how this one progresses. His win in the Acomb when last seen has worked out well and he’d be the stable star anywhere else.

TIME FOR SANDALS

  • Sire: Sands Of Mali (FR)
  • Dam: Days Of Summer (IRE)
  • Dam’s Sire: Bachelor Duke (USA)

Winner on debut in a hot looking 6f race at Kempton and followed that up with two solid placed efforts in the hotly contested Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury and the G2 Lowther Stakes at York. Both races are highly regarded and this yard will be excited about the prospects for this one.

Was given a mark of 86 following his 2nd run but that will likely be affected by the fact that she was only defeated by a neck in the G2 Lowther. There will be bags of options for her so its anyone’s guess as to where she goes but hopefully we will see her picking up a G2 or even a G1 this term. She will not carry any penalties into her races this term so could well have an upper hand if placed well.

The July Cup at Newmarket, Sprint Cup at Haydock in September would be exciting targets but i feel she could go well in the Duke of York Stakes in May avoiding any penalties or similarly the Sandy Lane Stake at Haydock in May,

ULTRASOUL

  • Sire: Kingman (UK)
  • Dam: Channel (IRE)
  • Dam’s Sire: Nathaniel (IRE)

Bred to be far better than the mark of 83 that he has been given following 4 starts and is one that looks to have slipped under the radar. The form of his 4 races to date is very solid.

Only found 1 too good on debut and that one is 119 rated dual G1 winner Shadow Of Light, now I’m not saying that he is anywhere near that level but he has met some pretty stiff opposition in the 3 runs since and as a result sits on a mark well below his actual level.

Has had a tendency to get worked up in the stalls before races and if that can be ironed out will have even more to offer as a result. Would be interesting too stepped up a little in trip to the mile where he could well excel.

William Hill Top Price Guarantee EBF Brocklesby Stakes

Son Of Sarabi 0.5pt EW 40/1 – Very difficult to look too far past the favourite Norman’s Cay 5/2 here with the stable having won the race in 2022 with a similarly smart looking sort who on paper stands head and shoulders above most of these but we all know that doesn’t always translate and in fact very few high profile bred horses win this race. Outside of the favourite we really like the look of Kamakameleon 11/4 who once again in a big field like this offers little value, his yard took the race last term and will be trying hard again this term. Sucking Diesel 9/1 offers more value but only 3 fillies have managed to take advantage of the 5lb weight allowance here since 1988 so looks up against it from that perspective. Therefore we look to the bottom of the market for one at a huge price who looks well enough bred to get involved here and may have snuck under the radar. Yard aren’t renowned for their 2 year old winners but they do have their fair share and its not often that they venture this far North but when they do the success rate is decent. He’s an early foal so could be a well developed colt and is out of a very speedy family who does well with the youngsters.

William Hill Bet 10 Get 10 Spring Mile Handicap

Ocean Of Dreams 1pt win only 9/1 + Deborah’s Dream 0.5pt EW 33/1 (6 places B365) – A couple of very interesting gelded 4 year olds have caught the eye here in a race that has gone to a 4 year old on 14 of the last 20 running’s. Ocean Of Dreams is a very interesting yard debutant for Archie Watson having joined from AOB stable having only run 3 times. A very convincing win on debut was followed by a poor run next time out but he bounced back with a good 4th in a hot looking race. Has been gelded ahead of his return and could have plenty to offer from what looks a fair handicap mark. Deborah Dream has also been gelded ahead of his return and has already got a couple of mile handicaps under his belt for previous stable Roger Varian. This yard have been in great order recently and they have the assistance of 5lb claiming jockey Warren Fentiman putting this one back on a handy mark. Warren is 4 wins and 3 placed from just 9 runners for the yard for a 44% win and 78% place strike so with 6 places on offer we have to have a small go at this one.

15:35 Doncaster 29 Mar 2025

William Hill Lincoln

Orne 0.5 pt EW 33/1 (6 Places B365) – Lost his form a little towards the end of last term but before that had managed to pick up a G3 win along with numerous other listed and Group place efforts. Steps back up to the mile today which looks a big positive and drops into handicap company for the first time from an insulting mark of 97 (92 when accounting for the claim). Goes well fresh and gets ideal conditions. Too big a price to leave alone.

16:45 Doncaster 29 Mar 2025

William Hill NRMB On The Grand National Apprentice Handicap

Life On The Rocks 1pt win only 9/2 – Failed to land a blow on the AW over the winter and that would have come as no surprise as this one much prefers the turf. That said he managed to grab 2nd last time out showing he is in good order. Returns to the turf 12lb lower than his latest success and despite racking up 4 wins over this trip last season he will effectively run from 5lb below the first of those wins when taking into consideration his claim.

17:20 Doncaster 29 Mar 2025

William Hill NRMB On The Grand National Apprentice Handicap

Young Fire 0.5pt Ew 18/1 (5 places will hill) – Another to have struggle on the AW this winter but who now find himself some 10lb below his last winning mark which came at York in a similar race for apprentices last September. Has a further 3lb taken off too by todays jockey and the cheekpieces go back on to sharpen him up a little.

Ladbrokes Go North One Man Series Final Handicap Chase

Grain D’Oudairies 1pt win only 8/1 – Was in the process of running a big race when coming to grief 4 out at Wetherby 2 runs back and the winner that day has since come out to win twice including this years Ultima at the Cheltenham festival from a 6lb higher mark. Would probably have needed the latest run following that heavy fall to win back some confidence and this lightly raced 9 year old still looks very well treated on recent evidence.

15:20 Carlisle 23 Mar 2025

Ladbrokes Go North Red Rum Series Final Handicap Chase

One More Strike 1pt win only 7/1 – Improved to win a class 3 event at Musselburgh last month and followed that up with another solid effort last time out when 3rd (a long way clear of 4th) in a decent looking race where he had 2 of these well beaten. Has form that looks slightly above the level of this field and is likely to still have plenty of improvement to come.

15:55 Carlisle 23 Mar 2025

Racing Post Go North Monet’s Garden Series Final Handicap Chase

Sean Og 1pt win only 7/1 – The winner of the above mentioned race with One More Strike back in 3rd and we are hopeful that he is good for another big run here. Drops back in trip which shouldn’t prove too big an issue having won over similar trips previously. Has his 5lb rise for that win negated today by the very talented William Maggs but there is a slight worry about the right handed track he encounters here today. Has a bit to find with a couple of these including the favourite but can do so if able to continue the upward curve from todays weights.

Watch Racing TV Now Handicap Hurdle

Marty Mcfly 1pt win only 8/1 – Very lightly raced and far less exposed than a few of these but has suffered a couple of heavy defeats in between his best bits of form. The best runs however have come over the shorter trips so today drop back should suit. Only 2lb above his last winning mark and should have more to offer now with conditions and trip looking more suited. The drying ground should prove to be a big plus too.

DragonBet: Oncourse And Online Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle

Orange Diamond 0.5pt EW 25/1 (4 places Skybet) – Tailed off last time out over 2 miles when returning from a year off the track but was pleasing enough when all things were considered. Has yet to race beyond 2m 5f but has bags of stamina on the Sires side of the breeding so could well have plenty more to offer stepped up markedly in trip here today. Yard does well at Hereford with 3 winners and 3 placed from just 9 runners so the chance is taken that he has one going under the radar here today.

14:45 Wolverhampton 08 Mar 2025

BetMGM Lincoln Trial Handicap

Silent Age 0.5pt EW 66/1 (4 places Coral) – Very lightly raced 4 year old who made a very pleasing start for the Godolphin team and Charlie Appleby when winning his first two starts on the AW including one here over CD. Was caught out in a listed race following that and was then up against it from the weights in a hot looking handicap at Newcastle. Has been sold on now by Godolphin but still has plenty of promise despite not making the cut at the very prestigious Appleby yard. Was far from disgraced making his return last time out following a 10 month lay off and could well kick on here today. A career best would be needed but has real potential to outrun this current mark at a huge price.

16:30 Wolverhampton 08 Mar 2025

Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Handicap

Enthused 1pt win only 12/1 – Looks to have run out of rope with the handicapper over obstacles following a couple of wins and a few placed efforts but is very much worth a try from this mark going back over the AW. He is still relatively unexposed in this sphere and has gone close in similar company from around this mark. The trip could be on the sharp side having done most of his flat work beyond 10f but that said his best runs have probably come at the mile so is definitely worth a try in a race where a few are looking hard to win with or in the handicappers grip. Yard boasts a near 29% strike at the track with a LSP of +29 so are no strangers to a winner here and for those wanting to play safer his place rate is 50% at the track.

30 In Free Bets With BetUK Handicap

Twilight Romance 0.5 pt EW 25/1 – Yet to win in handicap company but looks very well treated on some of his previous form. Lightly race and still should have some improvement to offer. Will likely strip fitter for his recent return from wind surgery and 221 days off the track and looks to have been found a real chance of getting his head in front today.

14:25 Sandown 08 Mar 2025

Betfair Imperial Cup Handicap Hurdle

Spirits Bay 1pt win only 13/2 – Very lightly raced likely improver who ran very well in grade 2 company last time out up against a few very big hitters. A repeat of that performance would put to bed any thoughts that the handicapper has got a grip on this one. Yards last 2 runners in this race have both won so needs taking seriously having been sent for a tilt at this sought after prize.

Call Fitzdares On 020 7851 5407 Mares’ Handicap Hurdle

The Lord Maid 1pt win only 9/2 – Made a pleasing start for this stable after joining from Ireland and followed up with a decent run to finish runner up next time out. Never really got involved last time out at Doncaster however and comes here with a bit to prove still. A lot is pinned on this one relishing this much tougher test of stamina today which should suit when looking at the breeding. Back in mares only company today and has the added assistance of Cameron Illes who takes off a whopping 7lb which makes this a much more interesting proposition. Far less exposed than some of these and goes for a stable that do well at the track with an overall strike rate of 20% and a LSP of +53. They send just one today. Glimpse of Gala looks weighted to go close returning to soft ground too but has more questions to answer following the last run when well behind today’s favourite.

15:20 Chepstow 09 Feb 2025

Ivythwaite Lodge Kerry Stevens Memorial Handicap Chase

House Of Stories 1pt win only 6/1 – Very lightly raced 9 year old who has spent an awful lot of time on the side-lines and therefore comes with obvious risks attached. That said however he has some pretty smart form on his resume in just his 3 runs for this yard if you excuse the last of those runs and looks bred to be a chaser over these longer trips, so it is possible that we have yet to see the best of this one. Been off the track for almost a year so fitness will not be assured but has plenty of ability and could be well ahead of the handicapper on the best of his runs to date which makes him a very interesting proposition taking to fences for the first time. Looks the sort this yard do well with.

Download The Fitzdares App Now Handicap Hurdle

Decorated 1pt win only 15/2 – Returns to hurdles following 3 very tame efforts over the larger obstacles and does so having dropped to a very handy mark as a result. Drops in grade for the return so will need to defy top weight but gets ideal trip and ground here today which will hopefully spark the revival. Now 13lb below his last winning mark and has been plying his trade in better company so has to go close today in the hands of Ben Jones who has a very impressive 7 wins and 5 placed efforts from 27 rides for the yard giving him a 26% win strike with a LSP of +11. They will be trying and that’s almost guaranteed when this jockey/trainer combo come together.

15:33 Exeter 09 Feb 2025

Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle

Jeriko Du Reponet 1pt win only 4/1 – Has done all of his running to date under rules over 2 miles including his first 3 which he won all very comfortably. Was not disgraced either on latest start when 5th at Newbury in a race that has held its form well since. Now given that this one looks bred for this much longer trip today then there could still be bounds of improvement to come which makes him look very dangerous for a yard that has a 30% strike at the track and also won the race in 2023. We could be looking at a top class stayer here that has despite winning 3 times has managed to sneak under the radar somewhat.

Southern Cranes & Access Ltd Handicap Hurdle

Summer In Milan 1pt win only 11/2 – Chris Gordon has won this race 3 times in the last 10 years all in the colours of the late Les Gilbert and this will be their first runner in the race since they cheered home My Ticketyboo to win the 2023 race where they shared a double across the card. They have won the race on two of those occasions with very similar lightly raced sorts and this one will hopefully be no exception. Needs this step up in trip today and conditions look ideal with a little toe in the ground. Looked outpaced in his last run when tried in handicap company for the first time and this will be more suitable today. December has never been a strong time for this yard but it is worth taking note of their runners as we head through the next couple of months.

14:50 Fontwell 26 Jan 2025

BetGoodwin Download The App Handicap Chase

Proper Twelve 1pt win only 7/2 – Unseated early doors last time and is turned out quickly again here which could indicate that he is ready to strike. Has run well in defeat and is largely consistent but has been unfortunate to run into more than his fair share of very well handicapped sorts. That doesn’t appear to be the case here today so another chance is taken that a yard that does so well here can get his head in front for what will be only a second career success. Yard boasts a very impressive 30% strike rate here at Fontwell from over 258 runners and with a LSP of +38 so an eye will also need to be cast over their other runners today.

15:50 Fontwell 26 Jan 2025

BetGoodwin Super Tommy Cannon Handicap Chase

Heaven Smart 1pt win only 12/1 – Let down by his jumping and has unseated 3 times from just 7 tries over these bigger obstacles but he is clearly bred for this longer distance chasing scene and following three runs this term over hurdles he now reverts back to fences with hopefully a bit more improvement in the jumping department. Has won from this current mark over fences and that was also on soft ground and pretty comfortable too so clearly has the ability to win a race of this magnitude from todays mark. Fingers crossed that they have been working on getting to the other side of a fence in tact and this falling mark can be taken advantage of at a very generous price.

Happy Birthday Rebecca Handicap Chase

C’Est Quelqu’un 0.5pt EW 33/1 (4 places B365) – These colours do well here at Sedgefield and this is the first of two runners on the card for them. With 6 wins and 4 placed efforts from 25 runners for a 25% win and 40% place strike and a +23 LSP its hard to ignore the extra place on offer and what could be generous odds. Has failed to impress since joining from Ireland but his latest run looked like a step back in the right direction and the falling mark has to make this one an attractive EW proposition today. Seven pounds below his last winning mark, acts on soft ground and connections record here give confidence in what looks a winnable race.

Pacini 0.5pte EW 25/1 – The second of two runners from the above mentioned connections who has also been bought out of the Gordon Elliot stable. Showed signs of promise in a few decent looking races for the Elliot yard but probably doesn’t quite stack up in such a big hitting stable. Put in an improved effort last time out on just his 3rd run for the yard and sees himself falling in the weights which will hopefully see him get a little closer to the money today. Acts on soft ground and has been handed a further 5lb respite by the handicapper today.
