A runaway winner over CD last August, returned from a 273 day break a remote runner up to gambled on stable mate last time out in a well strung out field. Still very lightly raced and has a few less questions to answer than some of these. Been freshened up, only 4lb above that runaway win, CD looks perfect as do conditions so well worth a punt for this shrewd outfit. S Bowen is 3/6 for the yard for a 50% strike.

King Alfonso 1pt win only 9/1 (320Bang) Iwac

7lb below last winning mark from last August. Can be forgiven latest run when making yard debut over the trip of 3 mile which is far too long for this one. Straight back down in trip and cheekpieces added. If able to bounce back looks pretty well in here. Ben Jones has won 4 times on this now 12 year old so will know how to get the best out of him.

Percy Prosecco 0.5pt EW 28/1 (540Muss) Outsider

Off the track for 144 days for what will have been a much needed break following his form going downhill quite rapidly when highly tried at the turn of the year on the AW. Returns to action markedly up in trip and back on the green stuff which hopefully will spark a revival. Goes far better on turf and today’s trip is far more suitable and today’s mark looks an absolute steal if Archie Watson has him tuned up after this break. Yards record here is of one of the best I’ve seen with 10 winners from 22 runners for a 45%. He sends just this one and one other in the 720.

Been running consistently well and running into some pretty decent opposition of late including when 3rd behind Lalania last time out. She is weighted to go much closer with that re opposing rival today and has the additional 5lb claim of Laura Pearson. Will be scoring soon and worth a try against this opposition here.

Unibet ’15 To Go’ Kincsem Handicap

Has put in a couple of ordinary performances of late but shaped very well at Newbury back in April in a race that was full of talent. Acquitted himself very well there as he had the time before when beating a very smart looking sort who finished 3rd here yesterday. Has the potential to make a mockery of this mark today. Jockey booking is baffling us somewhat however with more prominent jockeys from the yard sitting this one out and J Quinn taking over in the saddle for what is his only ride on the card. At the ripe old age of 54 is there something we have not been told ???

Wide open race with lots of unknown quantities so we take our chances that the owners have been holding onto this one for such an occasion. Has a perfect draw to get herself into a good position under the magnificent Oisin Murphy.

Kevin Ryan often plays a strong hand here in this race and we think he may have snuck one under the radar today. This unexposed sort was pretty impressive as a 2yo taking a couple of notable scalps over the minimum trip. Has had excuses since and comes here sitting on what looks a pretty handy mark with conditions also looking favourable. Could play a hand here for a yard that does pretty well with their sprinters.

Mungo’s Quest 1pt win only 10/1 (600Eps) Nap

A 20 race maiden who has took some time to get to grips with racing and is still learning even now. More recently he has gone close a couple of times on the AW but its his latest run here that has sparked our interest. Epsom is a quirky course that not all horses can cope with due to the undulations. Last time out however the selection chased home a subsequent and well handicapped winner from a yard that was on fire at the time. Another chance is afforded here now stepping up in trip, where there is just enough in the breeding to suggest that could help and returning to the track off the same mark where we have seen his best effort to date.

Unlucky to run into a massive improver last time out over CD. Has a CD win under his belt too which gives us the impression that this track suits and gets the best out of this horse. Even at 8 years old we are still seeing improvements and we don’t think this one has reached his peak just yet. Still relatively unexposed on turf and may yet have a little more to offer under todays rider.

Very lightly raced maiden who has shown snippets of ability on a couple of occasions to date. Didn’t really take to the surface at Wolverhampton last time out and is of interest stepping up again in trip today for a yard that excels with these sorts. All the emphasis in the breeding seems to be on stamina and this 3yo is sure to come good soon. Connections have a rich affiliation with the stable and these staying types and well worth a punt returning to turf up in trip.

Scored a 2 mile Listed event as a juvenile for previous yard but didn’t kick on after that and was somewhat disappointing. Has changed yards now however and goes for the very shrewd Dr Newland for the first time today following 8 months off the track. Has a bit to prove still but this yard is strong with these types and have a very good record here too. Hard to ignore given this yards record of getting one ready.

Capable of better yet and if able to cope with this testing ground today is bang there on previous form with a few of the market principals today. Taken to bounce back from a lesser performance last time. Was due to run at Ascot last Saturday in a similar race and we can only think that the quick ground that day as with her last run didn’t suit. The favourite was impressive enough last time out but we would rather take our chances on this still unknown filly from the Andrew Balding stable who could well just be a different gravy at this longer trip with some give in the ground. Won going away in a listed race back in May and that race looks far above ordinary.

Placed 4 times in G1 company last term and is no forlorn hope here for Aiden O Brien. Soft ground is a slight concern but with little rain forecast and a drying breeze we are hopeful that he will handle todays conditions. Track should suit and there will be plenty of pace on which could just set it up for one that has snuck under the radar. Finished runner up in the Queen Anne Stakes last time out, a race that has produced 8 of the last 15 winners of this race. However the St James Palace winners also do well which goes in the favour of Poetic Flare.

One thing we know for sure however is that conditions play into her favour and that can not be said for many of this field. Has gone well here before and this track should suit with how it puts the emphasis on speed for one stepping up in trip.

Could possibly come on for that run a little today and is still learning the game so a possible improver too. Goes well fresh and has also shown a liking for this track having placed twice from just 3 runs over CD. Will enjoy conditions here today and returns to the track on a very attractive mark. Was placed here on his return over CD from 10lb higher last year and is well worth a small punt here given his price today. Great EW value.

Frau Georgia 1pt win only 15/2 (200Perth) Iwac

Interesting contender upped in trip and back over fences for what will be only a second run over the bigger obstacles. Disappointed on first attempt but that run came following a break and in what turned out to be a fairly decent race. On the evidence of her best form over hurdles she goes into this fairly well treated and is one to note being the yards only runner on the card making a near 900 mile round trip from Conkwell Grange.

twice a CD winner and placed a further 4 times from 8 runs at this trip here. 8lb lower than when runner up here back in April and only 1lb above that last CD win. So on evidence is well treated and back at the track where we see him at his best. Yard have been in fine form (3/9 in the last 14 days) and Charlotte Jones is very profitable to follow riding for the yard with one of the best LSP returns i have seen which currently sits at +200. Needs to do better than last time out but hopefully a return to this venue will help.

Below his best last term and was very underwhelming on his return 11 days ago. Is starting to look very well treated however and the yard have gone in with a few similar sorts in the past month. 3 of his 4 wins to date have come at this trip although he does stay further so could try and take this from the front and try to outstay his rivals here.

Has eased again in the weights and is now sitting on a very dangerous mark.

Lightly raced and drops immediately back down in trip with cheek pieces applied following an ordinary looking handicap debut. Dropped 5lb in the weights for that run and takes a small drop in grade here for what looks to be a little bit of a plot. Jockey P Millman is 3 from 7 at Salisbury for a 43% strike and is 4 wins and 3 placed from 17 for connections with a LSP of +27.50. Could be something or nothing but seems a very choreographed move on paper.

Has some very promising form in the book running well against very decent looking opposition. Most of this form however has come on the AW and he’s yet to show the same level of form on the turf so is a little bit of a gamble here.
