Sodexo Veterans’ Handicap

Dragons Voice (1pt win only 12/1)

A rare runner North of the border for David Menusier who sends just this one runner on a 862 mile round trip here today. Last couple of runs have left a little to be desired but on best form is fairly treated. Has cheekpieces on for the first time following a couple of poor performances and been off for 65 days too. That gives this shrewd handler plenty of time to have worked some magic. 2lb below last winning mark and has favourable conditions too so plenty to like on paper.

RacingTV HD On Sky 426 Handicap

Cruising (1pt win only 11/2)

Has been running very well from this mark recently and finishing off his races strongly over 7f. That suggests that this small step up in trip today for the in form D Brown could well provide the answers. Kevin Stott takes over in the saddle and he is 2/3 for the yard this term. Vulnerable from a win perspective and needs to find a little more but today’s changes could be just the ticket.

Leicester Apprentice Handicap

Peachey Carnehan (1pt win only 10/1)

A very consistent performer who won this race last year from just 1lb lower. Did so last year without the aide of any claim and won pretty comfortably too. Has a 5lb claim today and has been in good heart so worth a try returning here with the yard just starting to gather some momentum.

At Its Own Expense (1pt win only 8/1)

Phillip Hobbs sole runner on the card and goes in the hands of Champion Jockey Richard Johnson. Hard to asses on current run and will hopefully come on for it here. Still not fulfilled potential over fences and may have more to offer. Nicely priced and should give us a run for our money from a slightly revised mark. Phillip is 7 wins and 5 placed from 23 for a 30% strike here in the last 12 months which offers plenty of encouragement too.

Dana Forever (1pt win only 7/1)

Was denied a clear run last time out in the hands of this inexperienced claimer over CD and if getting away on terms today could give this short priced favourite something to think about. Chances were scuppered pretty early on last time out but showed a great attitude to plug on for a place and is weighted to reverse the form with the reopposing Baltic State. Poppy Fielding is 2 wins and 3 placed from 8 for Tom Dascombe in the last 12 months with a LSP of +32 so is profitable to follow.
