Won well at Sandown upped to this trip back in July before putting in a couple of weaker efforts. Today’s softer conditions however should play in this ones favour. Is 3/3 on soft ground and is only 3lb higher here than that latest win in not ideal conditions at Sandown. Plenty of scope still to improve for the top pairing of A Balding and Oisin Murphy who have probably been doing the rain dance for this one.

Winner of the Dahlia stakes back in June and went very close having a first crack at this trip next time out. Narrowly denied by stablemate Nazeef last time out but had raced keenly on that occasion and if able to settle better today could well reverse that form having taken a short break which has proven effective previously. John Gosden is in flying form and could break his duck in this race here today.

Richard Fahey has come here again with a decent hand looking to retain this Trophy. Yard have won 2 of the last 3 renewals and they have come in again mob handed. An earlier piece of form from this one is what caught the eye when third behind Umm Kulthum. Has run creditably well since then and could have fair better than result last time out where having to recover from a slip staying on well to grab second. The slight increase in trip on that evidence should suit and a decent EW price is available.

A soft ground winner over todays trip back in August and looks massively overpriced from just a 2lb higher mark returning to similar conditions. Richard Hannon doesn’t send many this far North and has a decent strike rate at the course at around 24% from 37 runners with a LSP of +32 to add into that.

The favourite certainly has the pick of the form on paper after beating Derby prospect Megallen last time out but is always more difficult when carrying a penalty. The selection is from the very much in form S&E Crisford yard and he should fair better than his last run having hung badly following a slow start. Been given plenty of time to learn from that and should run a big race here. Yard are 5/10 in the last 14 days for a 50% strike and have a great record here too with 10 wins and 8 placed from just 37 in the last 12 month for a 37% win strike at the track.
