Close Brothers Handicap Chase

Ballymalin (0.5pt EW 18/1 5 places SkyBet)

Recent form figures do not look great having failed to complete on both outings this term. Was still in contention and going well enough however before running out when last seen to suggest that he still retains ability and sits on a fair mark. Gets near perfect conditions and stamina will be no issue for one that was 3rd in the Midlands National 2 years back. Yard have a good record in the race too having won it 3 times in the past 9 years.

Download The MansionBet App Mares’ Handicap Hurdle

Pepper Street (0.5pt EW 16/1 4 Places Various)

Fair flat runner who has not really produced much over hurdles to date. Has joined a new yard however and ran creditably well in a seller first time up for the yard following a 256 day lay off and wind surgery. Would be entitled to step up on that performance and this short step up in trip should be fine. Has a 7lb claim on board today putting her on a very workable mark. Main danger comes from Burrows Diamond but many of these now have questions to answer and ours comes from a yard that has a 37% strike here in the last 12 months and have just started to come good.

13:15 Sandown 04 Dec 2020

Londesborough Handicap Chase

Darebin (1pt win only 5/1)

Arrives here in what can only be described as indifferent form. Due to this however he also arrives lurking around on a very handy mark. A 3 times CD winner who has often put his best foot forward here and is worth a try today from this lowly mark. Third in this race last year from a 12lb higher mark. Plenty to like with conditions to suit.

15:10 Newcastle 04 Dec 2020

Play 4 To Win At Betway Handicap

Silent Performance (1pt win only 8/1)

Lightly raced and off the track for 70 days. Returns however to the scene of her best run to date to tackle the same CD with her yard in blistering form (7/15 in last 14 days for a 47% strike). Yard have a fair record here and Ben Curtis who rode her on the aforementioned run is back on board today. A jockey that does well in these parts and for this yard. Opening mark not overly generous but fair all the same.

17:45 Newcastle 04 Dec 2020

Bombardier British Hopped Amber Beer Handicap

Convertible (1pt win only 10/1)

The second of two runners on the card for the above mentioned in form yard and duo of Hugo Palmer and Ben Curtis. Very lightly raced and will need to improve on his latest performance at Wolverhampton. Plenty of scope so that improvement can not be ruled out back at a track where so many of the yards runners do so well.

18:45 Newcastle 04 Dec 2020

Bombardier ‘March To Your Own Drum’ Handicap

Kumasi ( 1pt win only 13/2)

Very interesting runner making yard debut for the in form Archie Watson having joined from David O Meara following being purchased by the trainer himself. Opening handicap mark on basis of last race at Chelmsford looks leiniant and this shrewd owner/trainer certainly knows how to get one ready.
