Queen Anne Stakes
Pogo (0.5pt EW 100/1)
All of the talk here will be about Palace Pier and rightly so. This John Gosden 4 year old has done very little wrong to date and was able to put a handful of these to the sword last time out. At his current odds however we couldn’t follow and instead are tempted to look elsewhere for the EW value. This brings us to the selection Pogo who struggled last time out in the Lockinge when possibly out of his depth slightly on unfavourable ground. Put in a big run to finish 3rd in the Hunt Cup here last year and previous experience is a big plus in this race and he will meet his reopposing rivals on his more fancied quicker ground here today. An outside chance but a live one all the same.

Coventry Stakes
Dhabab (1pt win only 5/1) + The Organiser (0.5pt EW 22/1 6 places SkyBet)
Expensive breeze up purchase and looked worth every penny when beating a decent looking field at the first time of asking just a fortnight ago. Hard to say how deep that race was but on paper it looks pretty decent and the selection did it pretty well once the penny dropped. Conditions look ideal today and the yard won this race back in 2018 with a similar looking prospect. For the EW backers looking for something at a bigger price i would not put anyone off a small punt on the Joseph Tuite runner The Organiser who won an ordinary looking race on debut but did so very comfortably. Needs to be seen how he will cope with this quicker ground and big step up in grade but 6 places are available and we have to have a little nibble.

King’s Stand Stakes
Liberty Beach (1pt win only 12/1)
Third in the race last year in behind the reopposing favourite Bataash. Lost again to that rival later last year too so has a bit to find with him here today. Was competing against him last term as a 3 year old however and could put up a much stronger fight this time around. Won her reappearance race despite not getting ideal conditions and is well worth a pop at todays price. Has won over 5 and 6f so should have what it takes to see off a few of these at the business end. EW backers can get 4 places from most bookies but we go win only.

St James’s Palace Stakes
La Barossa (0.5pt EW 18/1 5 places SkyBet)
Unusual not to have a short priced favourite here for this race which is often a factor that puts us off dipping our toes into these waters. So with a much more open race we jump right in. The favourite will be the talk of the town having finished 2nd and just narrowly denied in the Irish 2000 Guineas last month, a race that often provides vital clues coming into this race but we are going beyond the obvious. It would be easy to overlook the selection on the form of that race but he would not have wanted that soft ground and still ran creditably despite this. Was runner up in the Craven on reappearance beaten only by his stablemate and can be given another chance here. Previous Course win could prove valuable and James Doyle has a great draw today to get the best out of this lightly raced sort.

MC Muldoon (1pt win only 11/2) + Lucky Deal (0.5pt EW 25/1 7 places SkyBet)
It is impossible to ignore the selection here given the trainers record in the race in recent years. Looking a little deeper it gets even harder to ignore with the horse having a very similar background to the yards previous winners in the race. Add into that, Ryan Moore takes the ride and you have a very formidable prospect. Was decent on the flat as a 3 year old for Peter Chapple Hyam and boasts a good level of form over obstacles since joining the Mullins outfit. The Mark Johnston runners can not be ignored here either and better can be expected from the outsider of his 3 runners Lucky Deal now back on faster ground. Never got going last time out at Chester and goes here with the addition of blinkers. Has won over 2m twice on the AW and has a decent run to his name at Royal Ascot when 4th a couple of years back. Sits on a fair mark and could surprise a few today.

Father Of Jazz (0.5pt EW 20/1 5 places SkyBet)
Disappointing last time out but that run came over an inadequate trip so is easily ignored. Had previously run Forest Of Dean close in the Winter Derby at Lingfield and following a gelding operation could be open to a fair chunk of improvement here. Goes well fresh and comes in following a break for the yard that won the race last year so plently to like about this very lightly raced son of Kingman.

Has 2 course wins and 1 place from just 4 runs here, the latest of them in a group 3 race when only narrowly denied by Morando. Admittedly has not been in the same form since but comes here holding a decent EW chance from a falling mark with conditions looking ideal. Will need to bounce back from a couple of lesser performances but excuses can be found so well worth another try here. 50/1 can be found with other bookmakers but only with 4 places on offer so we edge our bets ever so slightly
