Desert Cop 0.5pt EW 25/1 – Needs to bounce back from a poor reappearance and what can only be described as a tailing off last season. Arrives with the yard in good form however and on the form of his race at Newbury last May and his 5th in the Kings Stand at Ascot he rates by far the best horse in the race. So from his current weight in a handicap race this potential group 1 horse at best could well spring a huge surprise if back on song.

Torito 1pt win only 9/2 – Not often will you see me putting up a favourite but this one is a class act and should be able to prove that he is a cut above in this company. Won first time up last season and is still very lightly raced compared to his opposition. Looked far more capable than his 4th in a Group 3 when last seen and could well be a Group winning horse this season. Lion Of War 12/1 looks the main danger for the in form Charlie Johnston yard.

William Hill Keep Your Raceday Positive ‘Confined’ Handicap
Betties Bay 0.5pt EW 33/1 – Dropping back in class here and looks capable of better than her latest run on the AW. Has has wind surgery since that run 58 days ago and the return to turf here from what looks a very lenient mark could be just enough to get this one back on track. Won a nice race at Newbury last year that would put her well amongst it here and was not disgraces when stepping up in to Group company at the back end of last season. A return to that sort of form would certainly put her back in with a chance.

Rowayeh 1pt win only 11/2 – A very well bred filly who will no doubt be capable of better than this current mark. There are a few well handicapped horses in this one with Zozimus 16/1 from the Mick Appleby yard looking a very likely candidate at the low end of the weights, but the selection has the potential to be well ahead of this mark and may well make a group horse at some point. Looks well treated on her return here.

Has won over CD previously and that win came from a 3lb higher mark. Has placed her from a mark of 91 last season and gets in here from just 83 so on best form looks very well handicapped.

Vickers.Bet Thirsk Hunt Cup Handicap
Titan Rock 0.5pt EW 20/1 (5 places B365) – Not been at his best in his last two runs and the return to turf here could well be much needed. Ran a big race here last September and followed that up with a very close second over this trip at Ayr from a 3lb higher mark. Open to improvement and has been freshened up before this. Hood on for the 1st time and should outrun these odds.
