His 2nd behind Trawlerman at Goodwood if he were to be anywhere near that form would put him well ahead of this current mark. Connections have done well with their runners here in the past and M Barzalona has a great record here too.

Flight Of Angels 1pt win only 7/1 – has a little bit to prove over this trip and on slightly softer ground but is unexposed at the trip and could well have improved over the winter for the in form Charlie Johnston yard. Current mark looks a workable one and this could be considered a drop in class from last years exploits. Has an eye catching piece of from from Epsom last August and if not today then she will certainly be picking up a race in the near future.

Warminster 1pt win only 10/1 – Slight concern over todays conditions but there is plenty in the breeding to suggest that he should be able to cope with the drying ground with no further rain forecast. Only won once in 23 starts and that was a maiden but has been a consistent performer in handicap company and will no doubt find a race soon. Unexposed on turf so back up in trip today from a sliding mark is worth a punt at this price. Went down by just a neck from 6lb higher on turf last August which gives further hope today.

Dakota Power 1pt win only 10/1 – Was able to go close from a 5lb higher mark at Wolverhampton back in December so answers the question around current mark well. All of his best runs have come at this trip so the only question that remains is will he be able to translate the form to Turf in testing conditions. Breeding suggests that soft/heavy ground should pose no problem so there is plenty of plus signs behind this very unexposed selection. Drawn well and todays jockey is 5 wins and 6 places from 25 for the yard further staking this ones claims.

Kingsclere Past, Present And Future Handicap
Captain Haddock 1pt win only 13/2 – Disappointing on his reappearance run but this represents a big drop in grade today and he was running from 5lb out of the handicap that day. Looks versatile regards to conditions and has gone close on heavy ground previously. Needs to bounce back but has been handed a huge respite from the handicapper with a 6lb fall in the weights which he could well expose here with the blinkers back on.
