Smurfette 1pt win only 10/1 – Started out with plenty of promise and has some fairly decent form in the book in novice races. Has a little to prove following her latest run on handicap debut but this current mark should not be a problem and we are happy to write that run off in the hope of better today back in more novice company. Yard are in excellent form and have a 25% strike rate at this track.

Over Milk Wood 1pt win only 12/1 – Only modest form over hurdles in Ireland and has returned from almost 3 years off the track with 3 very modest looking hurdles runs since joining his new yard. Looks bred to be a chaser however and makes a belated switch to the bigger obstacles for a very smart trainer who does very well at this track and in particular over fences. Gets in here from a very low weight and has the aide of a very talented 3lb claimer too in Jack Hogan.

Eric Carmen 0.5pt EW 20/1 – Things haven’t quite clicked for this one in 4 runs since joining from Ireland and as a result he has been eased 18lb in the weights as a result. He had been off the track for 560 days prior to his yard debut and i suspect they have been using his runs to blow away the cobwebs and at some point things will drop right. That could well be today as the yard have found form in the past 2 weeks and this mark is an absolute gimme on his last run over the water.

Northern Rose 0.5pt EW 20/1 – Still a maiden following 6 runs over hurdles but has a piece of form that looks well above this level back in November. She actually fell that day but was still in contention and travelling with purpose in a race that has produced 5 winners since and the winner that day Salver placed 3rd in this years Triumph hurdle. Its hard to say where this one would have finished that day and we suspect she would have been no match for the winner but this mark on that form looks laughable. Was last of 10 on her first run back following the fall but again that race has produced winners and she had been off for 3 months and probably not given too hard a time either. Had a couple of runs on the AW and returned to hurdles with a decent run last time out. Eased a further 2lb and could well surprise today.

Malina Ocarina 0.5pt EW 25/1 (4 places B365) – Landed a big gamble over CD from a 2lb higher mark last May and ran well enough in defeat in 3 runs following that. Went off the boil afterwards and has since been freshened up with a 3 month break. Has won and placed fresh in the past and as the only CD winner in the field is worth a try here given the current form of her yard. On Springs (0.25pt EW 25/1) is also weighted to go very close if all is well returning from a year off and gets his ground too.

Man Again 1pt win only 15/2 – Pulled up on all 3 starts since joining this yard from France but had some pretty decent looking form in 3 runs over obstacles over there and is no forlorn hop dropping into this company on his switch back to hurdles today. Was returning from 449 days off on yard debut and has undergone wind surgery before the last race so has excuses. Blinkers go on today and is worth a try for a yard who have a 21 wins and 14 placed from 53 for a 39% strike at the track with an LSP of +18.

Liz And Izzy’s HOAP Podcast Handicap Hurdle
Cabhfuilfunghi 1pt win only 7/1 – A promising 2nd on his yard debut 4 weeks ago and entered the tracker following that run. Was available at 14/1 last night so has seen significant support since. Will be entitled to have come on for that run and will appreciate todays better ground too. Soldat Forte (0.5pt EW 20/1) rates a solid EW chance given he has finished runner up on his last 3 outings, with all 3 behind subsequent winners. Yards current form would be the only worry. He is also very closely matched on a previous run against todays selection.

Seems to prefer this quicker ground and the yard have probably been waiting a long time to get this one out. Has won from 6lb higher and his connections have a fantastic record of 7 from 16 at the track for a 43% strike with a LSP of +32 so plenty to like.
