Sunday Selections from #Epsom #FfosLas #Yarmouth

The latest selections

Iwac: Winklevi 1pt win only 16/1 (350 Ffos Las) – Been very hit and miss of late and will need to improve on recent form. As a result however he now sits 11lb below his last winning mark and it wouldn’t take much to spark a revival. Yard is a shrewd one and they have a 25% strike here in the last 12 months.

Outsider: Twilight Prince 1pt win only 22/1 (423 Ffos Las) – Still a maiden after 13 runs but has pieces of form in the book that suggest he could get involved at a price here today. Now 3lb lower than his best run at Bath in June when only narrowly denied. First time cheekpieces applied and hopefully they will help to focus him in putting his best foot forward today.

Nap: V Twelve 1pt win only 8/1 (455 Ffos Las) – Has made pleasing progress in 3 runs so far and ought to have something to offer here on handicap debut. His latest run was in a race that is starting to work out pretty well and despite being a well beaten 3rd that day he had put enough daylight between him and the rest of the field to suggest that today’s opening mark is very workable.

Nb: Kit Gabriel 1pt win only 12/1 (505 Epsom) – A clearly talented but tricky sort who has been very hard to catch right. When seen running up to his best is easily capable of taking a race like this and we are hoping the addition of the blinkers today can help focus his efforts. Was very disappointing last time out but had previously run a big race in second having been gelded.

Churchill Rose 1pt win only 14/1 (259 Yarmouth) – Appealing pedigree and related to some fairly useful sorts, most notably Carnachy. Dam was also pretty decent and a winner up to 1 mile from marks of 90+. Yard does well enough with their 2 year old’s and a bold bid can be expected. Hood on for first run, any support would be encouraging.

Saturday’s Selections from #Chester #Haydock #Newmarket #Ripon

The latest selections

NAP: Wowzers 1pt win only 17/2 (315 Haydock) – Ran a little too keenly tried over 7f for the first time and failed to see out his race. Looks of more interest today dropped back down in trip having finished 2nd in two races previously that have both turned out winners since. Still looks fairly lightly raced and should still have more to offer. Ground a slight worry but there’s plenty in the breeding to suggest he should cope with a bit of cut.

Melody Of Life 1pt win only 15/2 (215 Chester) – Previous course winner who drops back in grade slightly having put in a big effort in a very competitive race last time out. Has some pretty decent form in the book this term in defeat and is well worth another try at this current mark in what looks a wide open race. Not the best of draws today but will enjoy the conditions unlike some of his rivals today.

Pub Crawl 1pt win only 11/2 (400 Chester) – A persistent runner up who is yet to get his head in front in 11 starts. Has more than held his own however against opposition that are possibly a little stronger than those in today’s field. Best run to date was his latest when upped in trip to 1m 6f which he will again face today and has to be given another chance. Drawn well enough to get a good position and should go well again.

Rhythm 1pt win only 10/1 (125 Ripon) – Bit of a risky proposition on current form but has been given a big chance by the handicapper who has given her an extra 5lb of leeway today. Add into that todays marked drop in grade and you suddenly have yourself a more interesting candidate. Hard to discount and looks a very tempting price.

Leodis Dream 1pt win only 10/1 (310 Ripon) – It’s been 3 years since this one managed to get his head in front so is another that comes with plenty of risk attached. Has knocked very loudly on the door this season however and went very close at York in July from today’s mark. This once 100+ rated horse still looks like there is a win in there and today will have no excuses.

Eastern Empress 1pt win only 9/1 (130 Haydock) – A well-bred newcomer from the John Gosden yard who won this race in its first two running’s back in 2017 and 2018. She is a half-sister to several winners including a couple of smart sorts and looks a very likely type for this race today.

IWAC: Absoloute Dream 1pt win only 15/2 (510 Chester) – His 3 wins this term have put him well and truly on the radar of the handicapper and he has risen 12lb in the weights already for those successes. Has a very valuable 5lb taken off today however and we do not think he is done winning just yet. Fairly comfortable winner at Doncaster last time out and his previous run in behind Brazen Bolt would hint that this mark still holds a little in hand given how that race has panned out since.

NB: Amazing £5 win only (415 Newmarket) B365 FREE BET on any race at Newmarket Very well bred and well related filly who goes here for a yard who hold an excellent record in the race having won it 3 times in the last 10 years, including last year and each time it has been with a newcomer. Yard also come here in excellent form having completed a 7 timer last Saturday and is one that would be foolish to overlook. Yard have a 24% strike with juveniles on turf this term too which is a stand out stat today.

Sunday’s Selections from #Hamilton

The latest selections

Nb: Miss Bella Brand 1pt win only 7/1 (200 Hamilton) – Very consistent this term and sure to give you another good run for your money today. Put in a very decent looking run last time out when stepped up to this grade and pulled well clear of 3rd place that day. Winner was certainly a bit of a handicap blot and another chance can be given here with the hope that the ease in ground will suit and bring out a little more as breeding suggests.

Nap: Baileys Liberty 1pt win only 12/1 (300 Hamilton) – Likes to lead but is looking a little exposed over 7f and is failing to see out his races. This drop back to 6f here looks like a good shout with the ground likely to draw the sting out of any closers in the pack. Cheekpieces back on today too which have in the past been a big help.

Iwac: Burtonlodge Beauty 1pt win only 9/1 (330 Hamilton) – CD winner here 2 runs back and worth another try returning here having been given little chance by a poor start at Ayr just 3 days ago. Mark Winn was the winning jockey for that CD win and he is reinstated again today taking off that very valuable 7lb. The win also came on soft ground so no issues there either.

Saturdays Selections from #Newbury #Ayr

The latest selections

NB: Exoplanet 1pt win only 15/2 (110 Newbury) – Respected newcomer for last year’s winning connections. Holds a Derby entry and has to be taken far more seriously than the odds on offer here. February foal so should be coming along just nicely and yard should have him just right for this. Roger Varian is in decent form of late and has a fair record with his newcomers too.

NAP: Stay Alert 1pt win only 8/1 (140 Newbury) – Lightly raced 3 year old who has acquitted herself very well in some very good looking company this year. Was only beaten by the now G1 winner Nashwa over the slightly shorter trip of 10f and followed that up with a Listed win over the same CD shortly after in a race where the runner up won next time out too. Was not disgraced thrown in at the deep end last time out at Haydock and is worth another try here on better ground.

Mitbaahy 1pt win only 13/2 (215 Newbury) – Very progressive this term up until his latest run at Goodwood. Was slowly away that day and struggled to get back on terms so is easily forgiven that run. Previously had took big strides forward when winning a Listed event in good style at Sandown and only being narrowly denied stepped up again in a G3 at the same track. Looked unlucky not to win that day and is given another chance for the in form Roger Varian.

OUTSIDER: Stay Well 0.5pt EW 16/1 (325 Newbury) – Started the season well with back to back seconds at Kempton and Redcar but disappointed when stepped up in trip at Royal Ascot. Looked on the wrong side of the draw that day and was pushed along early doors on ground that wasn’t ideal at a track he clearly doesn’t get along with. On his two previous visits to Ascot he finished last of 14 and 9th of 10 so you could say the latest 9th of 18 was a step up. Goes well fresh and has been given 3 months off so a very interesting contender off the same mark that saw him give the Goodwood Chesterfield Cup winner a good run.

IWAC: Enforced 1pt win only 7/1 (435 Newbury) – Dual winner over 8f earlier in the season and has run creditably upped in trip on his last two outings. Will need to find a little more but this is a slight drop back in class today and he has been eased in the weights a couple of pounds too. Steps up again in trip today which is worth a try having stayed on well in his last two runs and improvement could not be ruled out.

OUTSIDER: Rainbow Fire 0.5pt EW 25/1 6 places B365 (510 Newbury) – Bit of a wildcard but looked promising in a couple of AW runs for John Gosden last term having been off the track for over 500 days before being sold for just 35,000 Gns and moving to Marco Botti. Doesn’t look overly well treated from his current mark but if ready to roll following 6 months in new hands could have plenty to offer back down in trip running on turf for the first time since his sole career win at Newmarket back in 2020. Slight drop in grade from last run but has plenty of questions to answer hence the 25/1 price.

Cassy O £5 win only @12/1 (445 Ayr) Bet365 Free bet on any race at Ayr – Now 8lb lower than his latest win back in June. Has not been in the same form since however and will need to find a spark from somewhere. Ran here Thursday over the mile but was badly hampered and can be forgiven that run. Turned out quickly, and was 4th at this September meeting last year from 13lb higher so plenty of encouragement for a shrewd yard.

3 Big priced selections for Friday

The latest selections

Iwac: Bollin Margaret 0.5pt EW 20/1 3 places B365 (153 Haydock) – Looks up against it on current form and with a few potential well bred sorts here today but is taking a drop in grade from a very tempting mark and is back in fillies only company again here, company in which 4 of her victories to date have come in so cannot be taken too lightly despite the bare look of this race.

Nap: Never Dark 0.5pt EW 18/1 (338 Haydock) – Only narrowly touched off by Ginger Jam in a surprise return to form at Carlisle 2 runs back and despite the flop last time out cannot be ruled out here in the hands of the talented Zac Wheatley who takes off 5lb today. Was only collared late on at Carlisle and todays track could suit those front running tactics well.

Nb: Danielsflyer 0.5pt EW 18/1 (401 Newcastle) – Previous CD winner having just a second run for new trainer D Thompson. Latest run can be ignored and better should be expected making a return to the AW. Mark has fallen to a very temting one now and this 7f at Newcastle could be just the ticket to getting back on track. 11lb below last winning mark and 8lb below that CD win so cannot be dismissed in the hands of Clifford Lee who has an LSP of +44 riding for the yard.

Bank Holiday Selections from #Chepstow #Cartmel #Epsom

The latest selections

NB: Ornate 1pt win only 12/1 (210 Southwell) – 3 wins and 3 placed efforts from 11 runs over CD and although recent form figures do not read that well this veteran can still have a hand to play back at this track. The surface here has changed since those wins but he put in a decent effort to finish just 3/4 length back in 4th at the end of January. That run came in a class 4 race from a mark of 82 and the return here today in a class 5 from 68 is too tempting to leave alone. Decent draw too.

IWAC: Nick Lost 1pt win only 11/1 (214 Cartmel) – Fairly useful sort for H De Bromhead but has not been seen up to the same level since leaving there. Has changed hands again since then and offered a little more encouragement for new yard last time out. Still has plenty to prove but should fare better now back up in trip on decent ground. Yard likes a winner here and it would be no surprise to see this one bounce back to form today. Yard also hold excellent chances with Seddon (3.59 Cartmel)

NAP: Our Sam 1pt win only 11/1 (510 Cartmel) – Lightly raced and still very unexposed. Slightly disappointing over CD last time out on handicap debut but ought to be capable of better as he had shown in a previous run also over CD. Current mark seems a little high but looks the sort that this yard do well with and has to be respected in the hands of Charlotte Jones given her record up North for this shrewd outfit. She has around a 20% strike from over 200 runners for the yard and a very impressive LSP of +214 when riding for them. She is also 12 wins and 5 placed from 30 at the track in the last 12 months for a 40% strike which is very hard to ignore.

LONGSHOT: Craic At Dawn 1pt win only 16/1 (331 Chepstow) – Well beaten on both starts for his new yard this term and a change of fortune is needed. Gets the application of blinkers for the first time and in steps Hollie Doyle to take the ride. The other horse we like the chance of in this race was Afta Party who we would imagine Hollie would have had the options on so interesting then to see her take this ride. Bit of a wildcard but worth a chance at huge odds.

LONGSHOT: Furzig 0.5pt EW 22/1 4places B365 (350 Epsom) – A 3 times winner last term who is yet to fire this term. Today’s assignment looks much easier than recent ones and from a mark that is 6lb lower than his last win back in September we have to take a chance. Was not beaten far at Ripon 2 runs back and could well get back on track in this very winnable contest.

Sunday Selections from #Beverley

The latest selections

Iwac: Poets Dawn 1pt win only 11/2 Skybet Money back offer (205 Beverley) – On a long losing run but has been running consistently well all season. Has 3 wins and 2 placed efforts from 10 runs over this CD however and a return here could spark something extra. David Allan is back in the saddle and has to be respected from some 15lb below his last winning mark.

Nap: The Grey Lass 1pt win only 4/1 (345 Beverley) – Still a maiden but has produced a couple of decent runs to be runner up already this term. Was only narrowly denied over CD on seasonal reappearance and was beaten only by a progressive subsequent winner last time out. Tongue strap has been applied which could help her see out her races a little stronger.

Longshot: Marselan 1pt win only 10/1 (425 Beverley) – Not beaten far in 5th last time out in a race that has worked out pretty well since. Comes in here from a career low mark some 18lb below his last win and despite not being at the same level since that win still ought to have something to offer here. Yard does well with their sprinters and have won this race twice from 5 runnings.

Nb: Whatwouldyouknow 1pt win only 6/1 (530 Beverley) – Another who is far too well treated to ignore and in a race where most of the field are looking past their best or out of sorts it is well worth taking a chance that the selection can get back on track today. Previous CD winner who sits 9lb below his last winning mark and comes here dropping in grade too.

Saturdays Selections from #Beverley #Newmarket #Goodwood

The latest selections

NAP: Majestic 1pt win only 5/1 B365 ITV 4/1 offer (130 Beverley) – Plenty to like about this Mick Channon trained handicap debutant, who despite going from the top of the weights here today does not look harshly treated by his opening mark. Has improved with each run since finishing 4th in a hot contest on seasonal reappearance. Followed that run up with another solid effort when 3rd in behind a subsequent winner from the John Gosden yard Operating who now holds a mark of 91. The selection was giving lumps of weight away that day too which makes his opening mark here look pretty fair. Ran well again finishing 2nd on soft ground at Ffos Las before absolutely hosing up last time out over the mile at Pontefract. Has a decent draw here and goes in the very experienced hands of Ben Curtis who has a 35% strike rate at the track in the last 12 months.

IWAC: Queen Olly £10 or (2pt) win only 15/2 Skybet money back offer (150 Goodwood) – Comfortable winner on debut and has since placed on both starts in Group company. All 3 runs to date have been over 6f and given her breeding on the Dam’s side this extra furlong is worth exploring. Holds an entry in the G1 Fillies mile at Newmarket for October so this step up has clearly been in the thoughts of connections too. Usual jockey Rossa Ryan who has a full book of rides on the evening card at Windsor has been replaced by Rowan Scott who has 1 win from 2 runs for connections.

LONGSHOT: Sir Dancealot 0.5pt EW 16/1 B365 ITV 4/1 offer (225 Goodwood) – Twice a CD winner in his pomp and proved that much of the ability remains when second at Pontefract on what was only a second run following almost 2 years off the track. Not quite at the races next time out in G2 company and is of more interest today back handicapping. Jim Crowley takes over in the saddle and he has had plenty of success in these colours winning 4 times and placing twice from just 11 rides for connections.

NB: Existent 1pt win only 9/1 b365 ITV 4/1 offer (240 Beverley) – Takes a marked step back in grade here having faced off against some pretty stiff opposition recently and should feel more at home in today’s Listed grade. Has a great draw and should he be able to use that to his advantage by getting a good tow in, could prove difficult to beat today for a yard who have hit a much better streak of late.

Sunday Selections from #Brighton #Sandown

The latest selections

Marks Bear 1pt win only 14/1 (245 Brighton) – Can get back on track today droping in class and eased a whopping 7lb in the weights from his last run. Has gone well from a similar mark over todays trip under similar conditions so could go close if able to shrug off a couple of weak efforts.

Edward Cornelius 1pt win only 13/2 (412 Sandown) – Narrowly denied when last seen in handicap company and was far from disgraced despite the bare result last time out against much higher rated horses. Still relatively unexposed and open to plenty of improvement. This rates a marked drop in class and the drop back to the minimum trip here looks a smart move.

Schmillson 1pt win only 17/2 (512 Sandown) – Well beaten at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood but has had his sights considerably lowered here today. Held plenty of promise as a 2 year old and got off the mark in good style over todays trip at Bath back in May. Needs to show a bit more here but should feel more at home in todays company.

Sir Rumi 1pt win only 12/1 (642 Sandown) – Has fallen in the weights considerably since the start of the season despite showing plenty of consistent form. Steps back up in trip here today eased in grade slightly and ought to be able to bounce back and put in a big run. Ace Rothstein looks an interesting EW angle at around 50/1 too.

Three million families facing crisis as cost of living crunch bites

Recent research on the cost of living crunch by Citizens Advice has revealed that one in ten families – which is the equivalent to approximately 3.2 million households – are facing financial crisis. Even more worrying, is that this is only set to get worse as heating prices are forecasted to soar higher this Winter.

You might be wondering “what does this have to do with horse racing?”, and the short answer is – well, everything. With community being such an important part of the Horses 4 Causes ethos, we wanted to help reach out to those who may need that extra helping hand. Times are tough, but we also know how tough times can bring tougher communities together, bringing friends, families, neighbours and afar even closer.

With this in mind, we have created an Amazon Wish List to try to help those that may be struggling. Our plan is to continue to add more items to the Wish List as time goes on so we can continue to help people, especially through the coming Winter which is expected to see energy prices rise even further.

But for now we are focusing on kids essentials for back to school – such as stationary, uniform, lunch bags and other items. The average household spends over £190 on back to school shopping each year, and we would like to help ease these costs.

Any items purchased from the Wish List will be evenly donated to two amazing local organisations here in Poole, Dorset.

ARCH, ‘The Association of Residents of Canford Heath’, is a baby bank that also helps support vulnerable children and families in need with vital community services.

And Ashley’s Birthday Bank – which is a Gift and Crisis service that was first set up to ensure under privileged children received a birthday and Christmas gift. Who then grew to provide crisis services to families who find themselves in financial difficulties, or needing support to relocate due to domestic violence, abuse or neglect.

You can make a huge difference by simply browsing the Wish List to see if there is anything you would like to donate, with items starting from as little as £1.60. Don’t worry if you aren’t in the position to donate, sharing the list with friends can also make a huge difference to help raise vital awareness for charities like ARCH and Ashley’s Birthday Bank.

Thank you
