Yard send just the one tonight and its a fair old trip to make to be going home empty handed.

Global Effort 1pt win only 11/1 – Runner up from a mark of 58 over CD last October for his previous yard and his best run for this yard in 4 outings also came over CD from a mark of 56. Goes today from 52 and comes here with the yard in decent form. Luke Morris takes over in the saddle which would normally be a sticking point for me but he gets on well with these connections and that can sometimes speak volumes. Close of Play 50/1 ran well over CD on debut and has gone well here on another occasion. His debut run was in a decent race and a reproduction of that form would put him bang there at a huge price.

King Sharja 1pt win only 12/1 – Was given an opening mark of 76 following 3 novice/maiden runs when with his previous yard and has failed to show any signs of being anywhere near that to date. Has been running on turf and softer than ideal conditions however and he is allowed to make the switch back to the AW from a mark of just 60 today. The slightly extended 8f will play further in his favour too and this well bred son of Kingman could want even further still in time. Has to be better than what he has shown so far for this yard and tonight looks a good opportunity to show it. Cloch Nua 40/1 is sitting on a decent mark if able to bounce back now stepped back up in trip with a run under his belt too.

Dora Milaje 1pt win only 10/1 + Very Excellent 0.5pt EW 80/1 (5 places Will Hill) – Very lightly raced progressive looking sort who returned from a break to put in a fair display on ground that would likely have been too soft for him. Steps up in trip here which will likely bring about some improvement and his current mark on best form looks a very workable one for the in form O’ Meara yard. Was withdrawn from a class 3 race at Hamilton yesterday and instead comes here to go in a class 4. Very Excellent came here to run well over CD last year at around this time and that run followed a spell over obstacles as does this years return. Went on to win shortly after from todays mark and he goes from 5lb below the CD 3rd here last term. % places available and at massive odds so i gotta have a nibble.

Still very lightly raced and could potential pick up a Group race at some point. Has some of the strongest form in the book when compared to his rivals and has to be respected in this company.

Russet Gold 1pt win only 13/2 – Has a very nice piece of form in the book at the Shergar Cup meeting last year that would put him well ahead of the handicapper here. Failed to follow that up however so a little is still taken on chance. The drying ground will play to this his favour and with the benefit of a recent reappearance he could well kick on. Reappearance was a pleasing one but he did look in need of that run so it could be marked up.

Onthebunny 0.5pt EW 100/1 (4 places B365) – Has failed to beat a rival in 3 starts for this new yard following a 501 day lay off so is very hard to fancy on paper. Has been slowly away on last two starts and hung right more than once previously. Just a couple of things could eek out more today, the switch to this sharp right handed track, the very talented 5lb claim of Tommie Jakes and a little give under foot. That and this ones fitness must be on the improve and its hard to imagine that this one on past form couldn’t outrun these odds from effectively a mark of 41 today. Weak race and improvement will be on the cards at some point.

Tactical 0.5pt EW 25/1 (4 places B365) – Has some very smart form in the book for his previous connections, including a Listed handicap win from a mark of 107 when running in the royal colours. Has failed to reach those heights since including in his 6 runs for his new yard. As a result he now runs from a mark of 87 and is able to drop into class 3 company for the very first time. Looks the second string for the yard on jockey bookings but this one for me holds most potential now sent back up in trip and visored for the first time. Will no doubt come on for his recent reappearance run too and has appreciated having a run under his belt previously.

Flopped next time out but is of more interest again today, dropped back to 5f with a little bit of juice in the ground. Mokaatil 1pt win only 11/2 – Probably not the force of old but won from this mark back in Feb at Wolverhampton and has gone close since then showing that there is still ability there to work with. Never got into the race last time out switched back to turf but is worth another try here. His stats are doubly as good on turf as they are on the AW and this time last year he was running in class 2/3 events from a 20+ lb higher mark. Could be very well in here. Saffie Osbourne takes the ride and she has a 27% strike and a LSP of +26 in the last 12 months for the yard. Saffie also has a 22% strike rate at the track with a +24 LSP so she clearly rides the track well.

Still lightly raced and gets conditions to suit tomorrow for in form yard, lots to like despite being the outsider of the field.

Untried over this slightly longer trip but breeding suggests it could bring out a little more and he has certainly done some of his best work in the final furlong. Has a couple of strong looking pieces of form that suggest he could be well ahead of this current mark with the right conditions.

That said he is unexposed over these longer trips and did put in a couple of runs last term that suggest that he could get them. Has 3 course wins over much shorter trips so a liking for the track has been shown. Despite running from 3lb out of the handicap today he is going from 19lb lower than his last winning mark and went well fresh here last year in a race that has worked out very well from 8lb higher so has to hold excellent EW chances if seeing this trip out.

Put in a very pleasing run on yard debut last time out following a 410 day lay off and the form of that race is just starting to work out. Should be fitter here for that run and comes here with his yard very much in form with 3 winners from their last 5 runners. Yards record at the track is an excellent one too with 6 wins and 3 placed from 14 runners for a 42% strike rate and a LSP of +12. A yard that doesn’t waste much ammo and they send 2 here today.

Simpsons Paradox 0.5 pt EW 50/1 – The top 3 in the market are there on merit for sure but all 3 have a question to answer today whether it be trip or handicap mark. The winner will likely come from those 3 but we may have stumbled upon a dark horse here with this selection. This yard have been enjoying a good time of it on the flat since the partnership was formed and on some of this ones Irish form there is a very definite case that can be built for this one. Not done too much in two runs for the yard but drops back to the trip he performed well at in Ireland and gets the blinkers back on that gave him his sole win on his last run in a maiden for J Harrington. Mark doesn’t look to be overly harsh on best form and a place at a whopping price would not be out of the question, will relish any rain that falls too.

A weak race that can be exploited by one from the right side of the draw.

Kodebreaker 1pt win only 7/1 – Doesn’t get his head in front very often but is ultra consistent and comes here on a basement mark for a yard very much in form. Has 2 wins from 10lb higher last year at Southwell and has run well on soft ground from 12lb higher at around this time last year. Will need to pull out a bit more and hopefully a change in the saddle bringing id S De Sousa could make a difference as well as a chance of scenery and some give in the ground.

Ballyfinn 1pt win only 15/2 – Made a promising start when fifth in a pretty decent looking race at Ascot but has not quite followed that up in two runs since. A chance is taken that he can get back on track today now stepping into handicap company for the first time. His opening mark is no gimme but that debut run has worked out well and on that evidence it looks a fair one. Improvement could come for the step up in trip today when looking at the breeding and this yard do very well with their runners at the track.

Your Darling 1pt win only 11/1 – Form looks patchy at first glance but then when you take a deeper look you can soon see that excuses can be found for the inconsistent look. The wins have come on good – good to soft ground which he will encounter today and despite the massive hike in the weights for his emphatic win in a good race at Ascot, he could still have more to offer in a race of this magnitude. Looked out of his depth on softer than ideal conditions last time out and that was the Topham chase at Aintree so would be entitled to go much better here in a race where very few have anything in hand over the handicapper. Mackenberg 28/1 rates a solid EW chance now back in calmer waters too.

Hidden Commander 0.5pt EW 22/1 (3 places b365) – Has 3 course wins to his name including 2 over todays CD and gets what look to be perfect conditions for another tilt at this race. Was 3rd in the race last term, beaten just 1/2 length from a 3lb higher mark and comes here again having had a similar pipe opener. Back down in trip and ought to be able to run a big race again. Interesting that Sam Coltherd opts to ride this one over the yards much stronger market mover in Grand Voyage 7/2.

A chance is taken that the yards rich form of late along with the first time blinkers can help this one get back on track. Has won from this mark previously and on best for looks to still have a bit in hand. Has been let down by his jumping recently so hopefully the blinkers can correct that today.

Made an encouraging return to action in a big field at Navan last time out and this yard has to be taken serious when sending them across the water. Conditions look ideal and has the blinkers back on that have bought much of his success to date.

Was 3rd in this race from 5lb higher last year and gets a very valuable 5lb taken off by Luke Catton. Has won from higher marks, will like the conditions, ideal trip so plenty to like for one at a big price. Throw into that a few stats like connections are 3 from 10 at the track for a 30% strike with an LSP of +22, Luke Catton is 2 wins and 3 placed from 8 rides for connections for a 25% strike and a +17.5% LSP, M Blake is 6 wins and 5 placed from 30 for a 20% strike at the track with a LSP of +32 and i get very optimistic about this one.

Tides Of War 1pt win only 16/1 – Was 3rd in this race last year and not beaten far by Courage Mon Ami who is now rated 118. Has not been seen to the same effect since that over in Meydan but comes into this race here 10lb below last years run and is still very lightly raced and could have more to offer today. Interestingly the hood goes back on that has only ever been worn once previously and that was in this race last term, arguably his best run to date. Yards current form is a slight worry but has to be given a chance from this lowly mark.

Euchen Glen 1pt win only 16/1 – Veteran who’s last win came in 2021 but he is not keeping the same company here today and races from the same mark which he went close with last time out. Superbly consistent last term proving there is life in the old dog yet and put in a massive run to finish 4th in last years Ebor. So therefore it would be safe to say that the sights have been well and truly lowered. Will need to pick up a win to qualify for some of those bigger races this year and is one of only a few in here that with relish these conditions.

This company today represents a step back in grade compared to where he has been competing on large for the last 12 months and he now finds himself on a very workable mark some 3lb below his last winning one. Stats would have you believe that he is not as effective on turf but the truth is he has just run in better company than when he has gone on the AW. He is equally effective and has run consistently well in better company from a higher mark. Has a real chance today from what looks to be the right side of the draw.

Carnival Zain 1pt win only 16/1 – Struggled last term as a result of his 5 wins in the previous season, was caught out running from a very high mark and in better company and looked very firmly in the handicappers grip. Makes this reappearance today in much more suitable company and from a mark that is 6lb below his last winning one. Ideal trip, ideal ground and gets a very valuable 5lb taken off too. Has run well over CD previously without troubling the judge. A small EW saver on Leap Day 50/1 (6 places Skybet) has been done too. Lightly raced, good draw and looks to be on around the right sort of mark if getting a good tow in to the race.

Has a piece of form however at Windsor last year that makes her look pretty well treated here. Still lightly raced and returns from a break still open to plenty of improvement. this extended 5f trip looks ideal and despite never running on ground with any cut her breeding suggests it is where she will excel.

The latest of which came from a 7lb higher mark than this current one and was put right by a pipe opener last year as he has been again this. All 7 of his wins have come at the track over varying trips from 15 runs so has a near 50% strike at the track which is hard to ignore. The step back up in trip is a big plus too.

Vino Victrix 1pt win only 8/1 – His second in the Cesarewitch back in 2022 is by far the best form in this line up but couldn’t quite match up to that form last term. Because of that he now finds himself back on a workable mark and his 3rd when last seen at Kempton would also be good enough to get involved here. Won’t want too much give under foot so the forecast dry conditions is a plus and will need to be ready after 225 days off the track but his yard are going well and he has the help of Oisin Murphy in the saddle.

Went very close from marks of 82 and 83 last term and runs today from 70 so plenty in hand on a going day.

Miss Willows 1pt win only 11/1 – Not an obvious sort on paper, comes here off the back of a break having undergone wind surgery and has not really achieved much in handicaps to date. Runs from a basement mark here today and gets a very valuable 3lb to negate being 2lb wrong at the handicap and will be one of few that will appreciate this ground so could well put last term behind her now and i feel better can be expected. Weak race and this one has more potential that what we have seen to date.

Musical Masquerade 1pt win only 17/2 – Pretty low mileage for a 5 year old from this yard and one who holds lots of potential. Ran very well on his only attempt at this trip and put in a very decent performance on soft ground last time out in behind a subsequent winner. Soft ground and the drop back to 7f looks to be a very smart move and this one looks ready to pounce with his yard in good order.

Navagio 1pt win only 13/2 – Put in a big run on stable debut in this years Lincoln but failed to follow that up with a lesser performance next time out. All of this ones better form however has come on softer ground which he will encounter tonight and a step back in the right direction can be expected in the hands of Ryan Moore. This represents a fair drop in class from his last 2 runs and this looks a much more realistic target.

Made a pleasing reappearance on far less than ideal ground and could bounce back with a big run at a track that has suited well in the past now getting what looks to be much needed quicker ground.

Runninwild 20/1 looks to be a solid EW chance runninmg from 11lb lower than his last win now back on turf and dropping back in grade.

Callum Shepherd looks to be a positive booking too with 3 wins from 8 rides in the last 12 months for the yard.

If she is able to go the early pace here she could well spring a big surprise. Conditions also look to be falling in her favour for this.
