Saturdays Selections

The latest selections

422 Musselburgh

Kool Moe Dee 1pt win only 11/2 – On a pretty lengthy losing run and as a result comes here looking fairly well treated for his seasonal reappearance. Not only falling in the weights but takes a dip in grade today for the R Hannon yard who’s record here reads 3 wins and 1 placed from just 6 runners, that’s a 50% win strike.

425 Lingfield

One Step Beyond 0.5pt EW 33/1 – Has work to do based on his last 3 runs but had previously put in a couple of decent looking performances from a 6lb higher mark over CD back in January which offers some encouragement here today. Has been badly placed from poor draws on last few outings and todays stall 2 could provide the key to a return to form.

319 Haydock

Blakeney Point 0.5pt EW 22/1 (4places B365) – Back down in trip today following a fair performance over a longer trip when looking in need of the run. Now 7lb below last winning mark so well treated here if back on song. Has ideal conditions and looks the pick of these connections two runners judged on jockey booking.

Nawras £5 win only @11/1 – Very well bred 625,000 guineas purchase who makes a belated debut having been withdrawn from his only entry as a 2 year old last July. Related to a decent looking first time up winner over a mile in America and makes plenty of appeal on pedigree.

Qipao £10 win only 12/1 (PP money back as free bet if 2nd 3rd or 4th) – Mark Johnston has won 2 of the 4 previous running’s of this race and comes here again playing a very strong hand. Won her first two starts last term and looks the sort who will make up into a better 3 year old too. Not certain to get this extra furlong but has won over 7f and is worth a try here at todays prices. Last run can be forgiven and her previous 4th at Sandown has some pretty hot looking sorts coming out of it.

Selections from #Chelmsford #Lingfield #Newcastle

The latest selections

220 Lingfield

Count Otto 1pt win only 7/1 – Often takes his time to get going following a break but hinted on his last run that a return to form could be imminent. This 4 times CD winner has dropped significantly in the weights and is now 8lb below his last winning mark. Jim Crowley takes over in the saddle giving another positive.

330 Lingfield

Cry Havoc 1pt win only 9/1 – Consistent performer who drops in grade here today. Handicapper is just starting to relent and could well have given this one a chance here today with his yard looking to have found their groove this week. Ben Curtis booked for the ride and he is 2 wins 2 placed from 8 for the yard.

435 Lingfield

Anythingtoday 0.5pt EW 25/1 4 places – CD winner who is sitting on a dangerous mark and cannot be ignored here. Has not been beaten far despite the bare results since returning to action and his latest run was an encouraging one. Lively EW chance.

200 Newcastle

Amilcar £10 win only 13/2 (PP money back as Free Bet if 2nd 3rd or 4th) – Ran well on return from 3 month off the track in a Listed race at Wolverhampton and would be entitled to have come on a little for that outing. Step up in trip looks a huge positive given how he finished that race off and this yards family know how to win around here and have an excellent, profitable record.

Sundays Selections from #Stratford #Wincanton #Curragh #Tramore

The latest selections

405 Stratford

High Counsel 1pt win only 9/1 – A change of tactics last time out that didn’t suit is the excuse we are banking on here. Had previously put in a couple of encouraging runs and on the back of those is worth another try here from this plummeting mark with Sean Bowen back on board.

240 Wincanton

One Forty Seven 1pt win only 15/2 – Has looked a little out of sorts lately but is without doubt a very well handicapped horse should he be able to bounce back. Back up in trip with a change of venue from his beloved Stratford and we hold a little hope that this could bring new life into this 10 year old.

412 Curragh

Nordic Passage 0.5pt EW 50/1 5 places PP – On a bit of a losing run which has seen his mark tumble to one which looks very workable returning to turf. Has gone well fresh in the past and is a CD winner who has shown a liking for this track on more than one occasion.

520 Curragh

No Patience 1pt win only 11/1 – Interesting dropping back in trip for his new yard today. Sits on a very good mark, some 9lb below his last winning one and is worth a try here. Will hopefully be ridden prominently and can outstay and steal this one from the front.

Wednesday selections from #Catterick

The latest selections

100 Catterick

Saras Hope 1pt win only 12/1 – Pretty disappointing last term but looks thrown in here on her form from 2020. Has gone well fresh previously and will enjoy any give under foot that she will encounter here. 9lb below that last winning mark and dips now back into more suitable company.

315 Catterick

Redrosezorro 1pt win only 7/1 – A 4 times CD winner who has won fresh previously. Returns to action taking a dip in class from a mark that is 13lb below his last winning one and gets favourable conditions too.

350 Catterick

Firewater 0.5pt EW 50/1 4 places PP – Not shown much in 3 runs on the AW for this yard but a return to turf could be just the ticket to spark this one back into action. Has placed twice here over CD from just 2 runs so has shown a liking for the track previously and goes from a career low mark that is some 14lb below his last winning one.

Saturdays Selections From #Ayr #Newbury #Chepstow

The latest selections

445 Ayr

Pammi 0.5pt EW 33/1 4 places – Probably saves her best for Perth but is impossible to ignore at the weights here in favourable conditions. Won off 15lb higher mark last September and is no forlorn hope dropping back in grade today.

327 Chepstow (NAP)

Rosmuc Relay 1pt win only 8/1 – A winner on yard debut but has been largely disappointing since. That said however a revival was hinted at when 3rd at Exeter two runs back and a similar performance from todays reduced mark should see him in the mix. Back down in trip with the visor applied, conditions to suit and now 8lb below last winning mark.

437 Chepstow (NB)

Coal Stock 1pt win only 5/1 – Has moved yards regularly over the past few years and gets a first run today for the Colin Tizzard stable. That first run comes from a mark some 9lb below his last winning one and todays drop back in trip could be just the ticket to spark a revival.

320 Newbury (NNB)

Paddys Poem 1pt win only 7/1 – Well held last time out at Kempton but had previously showed signs of his old self here over CD and is worth another try from this much reduced mark. Now 9lb lower than that run that only came a month ago, gets conditions to suit and cannot be written off just yet.

Barichello £5 win only @ 15/2 – Has barely put a foot wrong to date and has run some fairly decent opposition very close to date. Has won 4 from 5 since his Wind op this term and although this step up in grade will require more i don’t think we have seen the limits to this ones ability just yet. Despite the successes gets in here from a workable mark and is well worth a try at these odds.

Hatcher £10 win @14/1 (PP money back as free bet if 2nd, 3rd or 4th) – Creeping back down the weights and now sits just 2lb above his last winning mark. Can be forgiven a couple of poor performances and has now been freshened up to come here at possibly a more favourable time of year for this one. Won 3 on the bounce last spring and if back to anywhere near that form should outrun these odds today.

Selections from #FfosLas #Haydock

The latest selections

340 Ffos Las

Judge Earle 1pt win only 14/1 – Struggled this term after returning to action following a long lay off. Has put in 3 very tame performances over fences since his return but his return her to the smaller obstacles offers something to work with. Is very well treated on old form but it remains to be seen if this switch will bring about a renewed effort.

245 Haydock

Encounter A Giant 1pt win only 14/1 – A troubled past has seen this one spend more time off the track than would have been ideal. Has been persevered with however and rightly so should he be showing any of his early promise when working out at home. Not shown much since returning from a long lay off in two runs but can only be better off for those runs and is worth another try after falling down the weights and taking a drop in grade. yard don’t have many runners here but do well with them (4 wins from 12 runners). They send just this one here in preference to his engagement at Exeter on Monday.

Selections from #Exeter #MarketRasen #Wetherby

The latest selections

301 Exeter (Iwac)

Canelo 1pt win only 9/1 – Not really been at the races this term but is interesting now sent back up to a marathon trip from a much reduced mark. Needs to bounce back to some sort of form but a return to anywhere near that of last year would see him go very close in a contest like this.

336 Exeter (Nnb)

Buckhorn George 1pt win only 11/1 – One from the tracker who sits on a very handy mark should he be able to build on his return to form last time out at Fontwell. Has gone well here in the past and a return to this shorter trip could be just the tonic having been outstayed last time. Had had a wind op and was returning from a short brek last time so possible that better can be expected.

100 Market Rasen (Nap)

Forever Des Long 1pt win only 13/2 – A possible improver now down in class and eased in the weights. Still a maiden but has finished placed 6 times from 10 starts showing that he is clearly good enough but need the right race. Has a valuable 10lb taken off here making him a very well handicapped runner on best form and comes here with the yard going well too. Yards record here reads well in recent years and they send just this one on a 496 mile round trip tomorrow.

346 Wetherby (Nb)

Grand Mogul 1pt win 6/1 – Last run can be forgiven as he was returning from a long lay of and looked to be out for a pipe opener. Was not suited by the track or conditions at Exeter either and jumped left quite notably before making a couple of costly mistakes. This track however looks ideal, left handed and much more suitable to this free running sort. Better can be expected. Yards record here is impressive too with 7 wins from just 12 runners in the last 5 years for a 58% strike. They send just this one runner.

Saturday Selections from #Kempton #Newcastle #Uttoxeter

The latest selections

Midlands Grand National

335 Uttoxeter (Nb)

Paddleyourowncanoe 1pt win only 14/1 – One of the few races that has evaded Dan Skelton at the track that he has had 100 wins to date, more than any other track so clearly loves it here along with Wetherby. So he will be looking to put that right here. This one joined from Colin Tizzard and looks to have had his mark protected slightly with a tilt at this in mind. Looks very well treated for one who is completely unexposed here and in such good hands.

315 Kempton (Nap)

Manofthemountain 1pt win only 13/2 – Second in the race last year and returns of a much higher mark this year for another tilt. That mark is a fair one however given the style in which he won his next race. Has been progressive since and takes a drop back in class today following a fair run in the PP Gold Cup. Has been rested up for this race and generally goes well fresh so should run a big race. Nothing in the pack looks to be too far ahead of the handicapper so big chances today.

233 Newcastle (Iwac)

Shaws Bridge 1pt win only 12/1 – Decent hurdler who is yet to get to grips with these bigger obstacles. Is persevered with however and now looks to be sitting on a pretty handy mark in a field that won’t take too much beating. Has hinted at some promise now chasing so we are happy to forgive the latest run.

Multiple

Dazzling Glory £10 win only 12/1 (Skybet money back as cash if 2nd, 3rd or 4th) – Looked to be back to some sort of form last time out in a race that has worked out pretty well since. Has been eased again in the weights for this first attempt under rules over this longer trip and now sits on a winning mark. Step up in trip should suit based on the fact that she is a points winner and conditions look ideal too. Harry Skelton now on board and well worth another try today.

Monday’s Selections from #Plumpton #Stratford #Taunton

The latest selections

Main Selections

355 Plumpton (NAP)

Appreciate 1pt win only 12/1 – Latest run offered some promise and enters handicap company over obstacles from what looks a very fair mark and in what looks a very winnable contest. Yard have been in fine for with 6 winners and a 33% strike in the last 14 days. Their record here at Plumpton in the last 12 months reads pretty well too with 5 wins and 4 placed from 19. Lots to like.

255 Stratford (NB)

The Cathal Don 1pt win only 16/1 – A decent hurdler who looked to be certain to make up into a good chaser after winning at just the 2nd time of asking over the bigger obstacles for H De Bromhead. Still looked full of promise on yard debut but has failed to back that up on last two runs. This represents a marked drop in class here having said that and he would be entitled to put in a much more convincing effort from todays much lower mark. Tongue strap back on that has seen him win twice and place once from just 4 runs in that gear.

345 Taunton (IWAC)

Grizzly James 0.5pt EW 16/1 (4 places Will Hill) – Not really fired for his new yard but another one taking a sharp drop in class having fallen in the weights and far too soon to be written off. Venetia Williams will be frustrated from what she has seen to date no doubt and sends this one now over a trip that is sure to suit and in more fitting company. Ran well for a long way last time out having returned from a wind op, making this drop in trip look like the sensible option.
