A fair hurdler for Nigel Twiston Davies who now goes out of the Sam Thomas yard. Got a little stuck in the mud last time having a first spin back over the smaller obstacles at Wincanton. Eased in grade and also in the weights here today and been given a little time to freshen up which should all play in his favour today. Conditions look more suitable as does the trip and there’s plenty to like about this one with the yard going well. K Brogan takes off an extra 5lb making this one a well handicapped runner on best form.

Paddy Power Imperial Cup Handicap Hurdle
Mack The Man (1pt win only 12/1) Iwac
Listed CD handicap winner 15 months ago in similar conditions who was looking likely to follow that up when brought down still going well in the Betfair Hurdle last year. Has been a little indifferent this term tried over fences and his most recent run back over hurdles will be one the yard will want to draw a line through. That said he gets perfect conditions today and has been eased a little in the weights too. This race also looks more suitable and a more realistic level so better can be expected in the hands of J Bowen who has a 37% strike for the yard in the last 12 months.

We are struggling to understand the price of this Venetia Williams runner, yes she put in a stinker last time out but previous to that she was seen demolishing a very similar field. She has gone up 7lb for that but not sure that was the reason that she didn’t perform next time out. Could still have more to offer from this mark with her yard going very well at present.

Has not completed a race over fences since finishing 4th at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival which is slightly worrying but if able to put in a clear round of jumping should be very competitive in this company today from this reduced mark. Has been pitched in against much better company than this and this race could give him the time that he needs to get into a better rhythm. Unlike many of his rivals today he will relish the drying conditions too.
