Sunday Selections

The latest selections

IWAC: Desert Doctor 0.5pt EW 20/1 4 places Corals (245 Chelmsford) – A return to the AW should see this one in a much better light than his last 2 runs. Rated 8lb higher on the AW and has been a fairly prolific performer on these surfaces over in Meydan as well as here at home. Won twice over CD and has fallen to a very tempting mark for this race. Race could have plenty of pace on which would be ideal for this closing sort.

NB: Poppy Carew 1pt win only 9/1 (145 Pontefract) – Had shown plenty of promise in her York debut before disappointing last time out at Newmarket. The drop back in trip here will certainly be a big positive and the quicker ground will be of no harm to her chances either. Yard do very well in this type of race.

LONGSHOT: Alsithee 0.5pt EW 40/1 (220 Pontefract) – Very hard to fancy having been tailed off in his last 2 starts but takes a big step back in trip here and given how he has not been seeing out his races that could well provide the key to an improved run today. Yard are a savvy bunch and have a decent and profitable record here at Ponte so its always noteworthy seeing one from the yard. Still very lightly raced and an interesting outsider here.

NAP: Marselan 0.5pt EW 20/1 (515 Pontefract) – Unexposed over this minimum trip and will be suited by the emphasis on stamina here at Pontefract with the stiff uphill finish. Yard has won this race twice in the last 3 years including last year so clearly a race they have in mind and they enter two today. The selection fits the profile well for this race and a big run at a big price can be expected.
