Was proving to be a little unreliable at the back end of last season and as a result finds himself 5lb below his last winning mark. Conditions not ideal but shouldn’t hinder him too much if he’s tuned up for this. Owner is 6 wins and 3 placed from 21 at the track for a 28.57% strike with an impressive LSP of +51
Holly Blackmore 1pt win only 9/2 (445 Thirsk) – A good third on handicap debut with the horse that finished behind her that day winning since. Is bred to appreciate this switch to turf today and looks to have been found a good opening here by David O Meara who sends just this one today.
Purple Ice 1pt win only 10/1 (515 Thirsk) – Unexposed over this trip and holds plenty of potential for improvement today switched back to turf. Has the benefit of a recent run and looks weighted to go close on his best form from last term. Yard enjoyed a good time of things at the track last year saddling 12 winners from 62 runners for a 19% strike with a LSP of +27 and usually get going around this time of year.
Gullane One 0.5pt EW 28/1 5 places (545 Thirsk) – Has two previous course wins to his name but both have come over 6f as opposed to todays minimum trip. Makes his return to action today from 5lb below his last winning mark and could just run the sting out of a few of his rivals here today. Like to lead and we would expect him to go forward and hopefully still have enough left in the tank to grab on of the 5 places on offer
