Air Of York 0.5pt EW 20/1 (335Bath)

Landed this race last year from a 4lb higher mark but comes here off the back of a couple of lesser performances. That said this one often puts his best foot forward here and holds excellent EW claims from this current mark despite the yard being a little out of sorts.

Mabo 1pt win only 11/2 (405Bath)

One from the tracker who was very unfortunate to be forced very wide around the tight bends of Wolverhampton last time out. Finished off that race strongly despite the wide trip and having been checked in his run a couple of times too. Today’s extra furlong should play in favour and Grace Harris has this one turned out quickly here. Has been eased in the weights 5lb today which is huge given that eye catching finish last time out.

Confils 1pt win only 13/2 (635Brig)

Shaped as if something was amiss last time out and has been given a couple of months to put whatever that was right. Comes here with the yard bang in form (5/9 in the last 14 days for a 56% strike) and back in the hands of Pat Cosgrave who had taken this mare a close second on her previous run. The yards record here in the last 12 months read 3 wins and 2 placed from 7 for a 42% strike and an overall record of around 17% strike with an LSP of +74.

Pretty Stranger 1pt win only 10/1 (745South)

Disappointing last time out but had previously put in a much improved effort upped in trip on similar better ground at Ffos Las. Back up in trip here and in the hands of a very talented 10lb claimer which makes this Evan Williams trained mare a very dangerous proposition. Comes here with the yard amongst the winners an looks to be well overpriced forgiven that last run.

Indianapolis 1pt win only 11/1 (225Asc) Iwac

Yard have got this one going back in the right direction and despite having a bit to prove here today there is plenty to like. Put in a better effort last time out, much better than how the bare result reads and comes here dropping in grade and falling down the weights. Richard Kingscote takes over in the saddle which is a big plus here today too.

Firewater 1pt win only 8/1 (435Ches) Nb

Would possibly appreciate a little more give in the ground but hopefully with the small amount forecast there will be just enough juice in the ground to see the selection at his best. Comes here on a mark that looks about bang on judged on last years form so there’s not a lot of wiggle room for errors. Made a very pleasing return to action in May and can be forgiven his latest disappointment on the AW as he makes a speedy return to turf.

Zealous 0.5pt EW 33/1 (750Ham) Outsider

Not been seen in the winners enclosure since 2019 but amongst some pretty poor performances have been some snippets of hope from much higher marks than the one he runs from today. Steps back up in trip today which should suit and will have appreciated his couple of runs since returning to action. Bit of a wildcard but just enough to peak my interest at these prices. Yards record here is not a very strong one but on a going day this one has enough to make a mockery of this mark on any surface.

The Kodi Kid 1pt win only 6/1 (540Ches) Nap

A very promising 2 year old who has failed to fire in 2 starts this term. This however looks to be a handpicked race following a not too dissatisfying run in much better company. Eased in grade here and eased in the weights slightly too for a yard that has a great record at the track. Has a little bit to prove today but yard are just starting to get a second wind and this unexposed 3 year old looks to have all in favour today.

Major Jumbo 1pt win only 12/1 (400Asc) Iwac

A very competitive handicap in which a case can be made for over half of the field. The selection comes here however sitting on a very attractive mark and dropping into class 3 handicap company for the first time since April 2018, so it would be fair to say that the sights have been lowered somewhat. Still has a bit to prove having been very lightly raced in the past 12 months and not running quite up to the level that he was 12 months ago but his latest run was a step back in the right direction and could have put him just right for a big run today. Has a very talented 7lb claimer onboard today and should put in a big run for a yard who are starting to find a few winners.

Wild Flower 1pt win only 11/2 (615Chep) Nap

Turned out very quickly here following a lesser run last time out. Had earlier put in a big run over CD on his yard debut off the back of a 245 day break so we are willing to draw a line through that run 2 days ago. Has also won over CD with previous yard which gives us more confidence returning here. Tyler Heard takes over in the saddle taking off a very valuable 5lb in what looks a competitive race and his record for the yard is a very good one and reads, 5 wins and 3 placed from 14 runners for a 35% win strike and a LSP of +26.

Winklevi 1pt win only 13/2 (815Chep) Nnb

The favourite here looks to have been found a race by Richard Hannon but it will be the first time that he takes on his elders and there are a couple in here from very shrewd yards that will be making sure he doesn’t get it all his own way. Well there aren’t many shrewder that David Evans and we plum for his runner who is dropping in class coming here and back down in trip on much more suitable ground. Earlier he had put in a big run at Sandown when 3rd in a race which has worked out pretty well since and that run was only his second since joining the yard and having not been seen for over 1000 days. Better can be expected today, how much better however is yet to be seen.

Rattling Rosie 0.5pt EW 28/1 4 places SkyBet (800Ches) Outsider

Unexposed 3 year old dropping back in trip to a more suitable one today. Raced keenly last time out and was unable to see out the race that was over a much further trip so can be forgiven that run. Earlier had put in an encouraging run at Wolverhampton, a yard that the trainer likes to send his youngsters to and could well show huge improvement today from a stall that holds a big advantage. Cheekpieces on for the first time and well worth a punt with 4 places available.

Existent 1pt win only 11/2 (410Newm) Nb

A comfortable winner at Newmarket back in October in a race that has turned out a good few winners since. Not just winners either but some decent looking sorts. That win came on heavy ground but this Kingman colt is looking very versatile and should cope with this quicker ground today. Still fairly lightly raced and made a pleasing reappearance following an 8 month absence last time out. Should kick on from that as he looked in need of the run and could well have improved over that break too.

ITV7 Races From #Newmarket #Carlisle #Doncaster

13:50 Newmarket 08 Jul 2021

Bahrain Trophy Stakes

YIBIR 9/4 gets the nod in this small but talented field. Has been running in and amongst possibly the most talented 3yo middle distance runners that there is. Has acquitted himself well in that company and may not have even put his best foot forward yet. Will appreciate this quicker ground here and looked to have needed a couple of his runs this term and today’s step up in trip should be one that is not only needed but could even bring out the best in him.

14:05 Carlisle 08 Jul 2021

OEE ‘Making The Best Better’ EBF Fillies’ Handicap

LADY CELIA 7/1 Richard Fahey’s 4 year old filly has been very consistent and run close in a couple of decent looking races this term. Her mark looks to be bang there despite going up 2lb but she has been given the time to come on again and could well out run it here today. Connor Murtagh negates the rise with his 3lb claim and todays trip looks ideal in these conditions.

14:25 Newmarket 08 Jul 2021

Tattersalls July Stakes

Jadhlaan 16/1 EW 4 Places Betfair Has improved with each start and looks to have matured between races. Was very green in his run at Haydock but put that run to bed when winning next time out. Has a close run on debut with Project Dante who possibly has the pick of the form on offer here but the selection is bred to appreciate this step up in trip today and could surprise at a big price here.

14:40 Carlisle 08 Jul 2021

Bee Unique ‘Embrace Differences’ Handicap

Spartakos 12/1 Turned out quickly following an improved performance last time out at Ayr. Not beaten far that day despite missing the start and would no doubt have got a little closer if not giving himself that mountain to climb. Gets the benefit of the 5lb claim again today and yard are just starting to get going.

14:50 Doncaster 08 Jul 2021

Follow At The Races On Twitter Novice Stakes

His Pride 11/1 Richard Fahey won this race in 2019 and we back him to do it again here with one that fits a similar profile. Just the one run as a 2yo and comes here off the back of an 8 month break. Sure to have improved over that time considering the hands he’s in and could well do better here receiving weight from the market principals.

15:00 Newmarket 08 Jul 2021

Each Way Extra At bet365 Handicap

Abduction 12/1 Finished last term with a very comfortable win at Wolverhamton and made a very pleasing return to action having been gelded over the winter. Will be entitled to have come on for that run and the form of the race looks pretty solid too.

Royal Scimitar 35/1 EW 6 Places PP Worth an EW nibble with 6 places on offer with his yard just starting to find some form. Not really pushed on from his 2 year old form but has found himself easing in the weights as a result.

15:35 Newmarket 08 Jul 2021

Princess Of Wales’s Tattersalls Stakes

AL AASY 8/15 Hard to look past this short priced favourite following his run in the Coronation Cup. Has won here before when taking the Bahrain Trophy at last years July meeting. Highest Ground rates best of the rest.

Thanks for reading and Good Luck !!!

Venusta 0.5pt EW 28/1 4 places Skybet (100Carl) Outsider

Has improved with each of his 3 runs since joining this new yard and more notably last time out when stepped up in trip too. Will need to improve again on that run against a couple of up and comers here but wouldn’t need to do much more to grab one of the 4 places that have been offered by Skybet. Looks a solid EW player.

Cool Dandy 1pt win only 10/1 (130Carl) Nap

CD winner back in May and effectively went off from this same mark having run from out of the handicap that day. Followed that up with a good 3rd in behind Fircombe Hall before putting in a couple of lesser runs at Ayr. A quick turn out is encouraging returning to this track and she is much better off at the weights here with the earlier mentioned rival so a chance is taken at a price that looks pretty generous.

Lenny’s Spirit 1pt win only 7/1 (500Carl) Nb

Steadily progressing and finding his stride this term and will appreciate this slightly more giving ground over todays trip. Yard have been patient with him and he looks due a big run from this easing mark. Yard do well with their runners here with a 23% win strike and Mark Crehan has a decent affiliation with them too with 5 wins and 6 places from just 29 rides.

Follow Your Heart 1pt win only 9/1 (140Donc) Iwac

Well held when last seen at Pontefract but had previously won a decent looking novice event at Wolverhampton on his return. The second that day is now rated 90 giving some hope that this opening mark of 72 is a pretty fair one. Of course we are having to forgive that latest run and pray a little of faith that he will get this heavy ground following that defeat but there’s enough in the breeding to suggest he will and this extended 5F looks more suitable and he may even want a little further in time. Chancy but worth a punt at these odds.

Sisu 1pt win only 11/2 (600Epsom) Nnb

Typical one from the Sir Mark Prescott yard, stepping up in trip, headgear applied and his only runner on the card here. Yard bang in form and this one will appreciate this test of stamina today. Yards record at the track is also noteworthy 4 from 8 in the last 5 years for a 50% strike and this will be their first runner here for over 12 months.

Jack Bean 1pt win only 6/1 (535Bath)

A very typical handicap debutant stepping up in trip for Sir Mark Prescott. Fits the same bill as many of his past winners who have shown very little in 3 starts then put in a big run stepping up in trip on handicap debut. Has a break to overcome but this yard knows how to ready one. Well bred and comes here from a yard that have a 40% strike in the last 5 years at the track. Yards only runner on the card and the race does look like a competitive one so its no gimme.

Ebqaa 1pt win only 12/1 (705Bath)

Had shown improvement in both of his starts this term before taking a backwards step last time out. That run came over an inadequate trip and he is stepped straight back up here today. Has a change of headgear today and goes in the hands of Richard Kingscote which also looks to be a positive move.

Wild Flower 1pt win only 12/1 (735Bath)

Will be entitled to come on for his yard debut which came off the back of a 245 day lay off and won’t need to have come on too much here to get involved. Has been eased slightly in the weights and this switch of yards looks to have bought out a little extra from this 9 year old which could well be enough to see her with her head in front once more. Yard is in decent form and have a great record with their runners here of 25% win strike in the last 12 months. David Probert has around a 20% strike riding for them too so lots to like.

Toussarok 1pt win only 8/1 (515Kemp)

Interesting returning to the AW following a couple of lesser performances on turf. Had been running consistently well on the AW before that including a close run in second over this CD. Todays jockey is no mug on the Apprentice circuit and he has an excellent record for the yard with 3 wins and 3 placed efforts from 11 for a 27% win strike. Yards only runner on the card.

Storm Chaser 1pt win only 8/1 (615Kemp)

A good runner up on yard debut at Wolverhampton returning from a 278 day break and having a first run in the UK and also on an AW surface. Was staying on late in that race under pressure which suggests that he should come on for the run and also appreciate this step up in trip today. James Doyle retains the ride and there is much to like about this Mick Channon runner.

Hedging 1pt win only 10/1 (735Brig) Iwac

Previous CD winner who’s latest run we are happy to write off given his recent runs at the track. He has been eased a further 4lb for that latest disappointing run when racing far too keenly before being eased down. 9lb below his last winning mark which came over CD and back in the hands of Georgia Dobie, Has to hold decent chance from this mark.

Lights On 1pt win only 4/1 (300Ponte) Nb

Very progressive for Sir Michael Stoute and well worth a try here in Listed company given her current handicap mark. That mark proved to be her undoing at Royal Ascot so this seems the more sensible target. Weighted to reverse the form with the R Beckett runner and trainer/jockey combo won this race last year for these connections.

Anonymous John 0.5pt EW 80/1 4 places PP (100Wolv)

3 very tame runs since returning to racing following a 850 day lay off. Connections have persevered however so i’m hoping that he is still showing enough at home to warrant coming here today. Eased a further 5lb today following those 3 poor runs and gets a 7lb claim too so if there is anything left in the tank for this one then today surely has to be the day. Goes from 50 today minus the 7lb claim compared to his last winning mark of 73. Bit of a wildcard but stranger things have happened.

Blue Cable 1pt win only 7/1 (135Wolv) Nap

CD winner who returns to the more suited AW following 3 failed attempts on turf. Has been eased a couple of lb’s as a result of those runs and comes here on a very competitive mark. Has a great draw and goes the hands of Rossa Ryan today which is a big positive.

Aunt Agatha 1pt win only 4/1 (210Wolv)

Good win last time out following a wind op and could well just be the one to offer more progression here in this field. Less exposed than some of her rivals today and up only 4lb for that handicap debut win last time out. Should have more to offer.

Coronation Cottage 1pt win only 6/1 (320Wolv)

CD winner who comes here in good order and on a fair mark. Has a valuable 5lb taken off today which could prove the difference in what looks a very competitive race. Turned out quickly following an improved run last time out and rates an interesting contender on this return to the AW.

Mabo 0.5pt EW 25/1 4places Skybet (355Wolv)

Easy to overlook following last couple of runs but is not without hope returning to the AW sitting on his last winning mark. Admittedly the yard are not in the best of order at present but the jockey booking looks significant in Rossa Ryan. Needs to bounce back but has 4 places to run at in good hands.

Spartakos 0.5pt EW 25/1 4 places Skybet (135Ayr) Outsider

Trainers record here does not read well but we are willing to put that aside for this lightly raced maiden who is starting to look well handicapped. Was initially given a mark of 57 for his handicap debut last term and performed well finishing second that day, has been a little indifferent since and as a result goes now from 48 some 9lb lower. Was not disgraced last time out following a short break and that run could have put him right for this one. Andrew Breslin takes off a further 5lb giving this one absolutely no excuses today.

Toolmaker 1pt win only 7/1 (210Ayr) Nap

Still a maiden after 16 runs and looked in need of the run on yard debut last time out. Will need to come on for that run but comes here with the stable having found some form and at a track where they do particularly well. Eased a further 3lb by the handicapper and sits on a basement mark today. Yards record here reads 7 wins and 2 placed from 18 for a 38% win strike and a LSP of +19 in the last 12 months, they are 3 from 8 in the last 14 days overall and Phil Dennis taking over in the saddle is another positive today.

Scorched Earth 0.5pt EW 33/1 4 places PP/SkyBet (305Nott) Outsider

Bit of a wildcard outsider from me here but one that keeps niggling with me to take the punt. Will be having his first run for new yard Tony Coyle who can be a shrewd operator at times and does so from a mark that this time last year we would have laughed at. Will have no issues with the trip and is versatile with conditions and has the ability to make a mockery of the handicapper if this change of hands has had any effect. Won off 77 in Ireland just under 2 years ago and placed when returning from a break this time last year from 72, goes from 55 today following failed spells with Dan Skelton and R Dickin over obstacles. Could leave me with egg on the face but hard to ignore at this price.

Soldier On Parade 1pt win only 9/1 (440Worc) Nb

Won 3 juvenile races on the bounce last term for this yard which earned him a pretty heavy handicap mark and a pathway to racing in much better company. Didn’t cut it at that level and has largely disappointed since causing the yard a few headaches. Drops now into more realistic company and goes from a mark that he ought to be competitive of, that is of course if he is able to bounce back from a poor spell which has resulted in having a wind op. Hopefully that will have put him right here for a yard that excels at this course with a record of 7 wins and 3 placed from 17 for a 41% strike and an LSP of +26

Jamesaintpatrick 1pt win only 14/1 (515Worc) Iwac

The other of the above mentioned Amy Murphy’s runners on the Worcester card today. The stats speak for themselves but this one has shown enough on merit too to warrant a punt. And before we go too much further its worth mentioning that for the EW backers at these prices there are 5 places at 14/1 available with Skybet. Been inconsistent since his sole win back in 2019 but has been eased in the weights as a result and is 6lb below that winning mark. Won’t mind the slightly easier ground and this drop in grade today and is worth a try at these odds.

Camelot Tales 1pt win only 13/2 (130Ayr) Nap

Simon Crisford doesn’t send one this far North very often but when he does you have to sit up and pay attention. From just 7 runners here he has 3 winners and 1 placed effort and he sends just this one today on a 720 mile round trip. Disappointed last time out on handicap debut but that has to be forgiven. He went off far too hard in front that day and didn’t quite see it out in a very hot looking 3yo affair. The form of his reappearance win back in April is showing signs of coming good and this mark here today getting a 10lb weight allowance for his age looks a very workable one. P J McDonand takes the ride and he is 6 from 22 for the yard for a 27% win strike. Lots to like and overpriced.

One Last Hug 1pt win only 11/1 (203Ayr) Nb

Previous CD winner who has had a poor spell since that win here last August. Latest run showed some signs of a return to form however and this one could be about to pounce from an absolute basement mark. He comes here with the yard bang in form as one of two in the race from this trainer. We were almost put off by Paul Mulrennan being jocked up on the other one but a closer look shows us that Ben Robinson is the more prolific rider in the yard for these owners and has a record of 4 wins and 3 placed efforts from 10 runs for them, that’s a 70% place, 40% win strike and a LSP of +42.00.

Zara’s Universe 1pt win only 9/1 (150Mar) Iwac

A strong 2nd in a strung out field on handicap debut 16 days ago and gets another chance in a wide open race from the same mark. That run came over CD in similar conditions so providing she has come out of that race ok should run well again today. Cheekpieces retained and a change in the saddle could help too with CJ Todd taking over.

Ensel Du Perche 0.5pt EW 50/1 (520Mar) Outsider

Stella Barclay is 3 wins from just 5 runners here so we chance our arm that she may just have a little plot for this newcomer to the stable. Joined from Gavin Cromwell over in Ireland and pulled up on his only start for the yard but with that stat we have to take a little nibble in a race so poor as this.

The Bell Conductor 0.5pt EW 25/1 4 places Skybet (327Bev) Outsider

A wide open race and one in which we are willing to take a punt on this wayward 4 year old. Showed bags of promise as a 2 year old and has somewhat lost his way and had a troubled path these past 2 seasons. Will be entitled to come on for his latest run and will appreciate the drop back to the minimum trip today. Won’t mind the rain that is forecast unlike many of his rivals here today and holds EW chance from this falling mark if able to bounce back.

Zihaam 1pt win only 14/1 B365 (440Bev) Nb

Inconsistent of late since winning here back in May but has 4 x CD wins to his name already and does not look harshly treated now eased a couple of pounds here. Latest run over CD can be excused as he blew the start and was never on terms but a better start today would put this overpriced runner back in the mix. On a going day has enough to give this favorite something to think about.

Zoravan 1pt win only 12/1 (750Car) Nap

Back down in grade here having explored a couple of runs up in grade. Was by no means disgraced last time out in a class 4 but this class 6 looks more realistic today. Had a close run with the market leader Detective over CD before those 2 runs and whilst coming 2nd that day he is 6lb betteroff at the weights with him here for a 1 1/2 length beating. Won’t mind a drop of rain that has been forecast and surprising that he is the price that he is given that run. Yard are in decent form and Billy Garrity’s record for them in the last 12 months is noteworthy too with a 20% win strike and a LSP of +120.

Dark Jedi 1pt win only 8/1 (315Hay) Nnb

Progressive last term and very competitive from this mark or similar in a couple of big field handicaps too. Will come on for his last run which was a reappearance from a 275 day lay off and could well have improved over the break too which would put him bang up there getting a fair chunk of weight from a few of his closest rivals today. Drawn well in 10 to get a position and switch off. Big chance.

Rania 1pt win only 12/1 (355Leicester) Iwac

Fairly progressive 2 year old who has yet to get going this term. Showed a little bit more on her latest outing and is worth a little nibble here on the back of that run. Slipped down the weights to what looks an attractive mark and is capable of outrunning these odds here.
