A very intriguing handicap with last years winner now being withdrawn. That opens this one right up and we side with the old timer who won this race in 2018, was runner up last year and takes another tilt from a 4lb lower mark this term. This track clearly brings out the best of him and you’d be very disappointed not to see a good run today. Got stuck in the mud last time out and plugged on regardless having run in snatches but a different horse can be expected to turn up here today.

Despite those performances still see’s himself falling in the ratings and has now dropped to what looks a very handy mark. Can be forgiven latest run when not quite getting home over 3 miles and drops back in trip as a result today. Made a pleasing reappearance from 5lb higher over this trip at Newcastle back in October and has a nice piece of form over CD in similar conditions back in January which offers plenty of encouragement today. Yards only runner on the card and Charlie Deutch in for just this ride.

Was not given a hard time on yard debut after coming over from France following 18 months off the track and a recent wind surgery. Ran better than the result would suggest that day and better can be expected now making handicap debut. Opening mark is difficult to assess but based on what has come from that race we are going to guess that its a fair one. Would possibly want a little more cut in the ground but that too is a little of an unknown. Worth a try based on stats and the fact that the yard send just 1 in today. They don’t send too many here and in fact have only sent 36 here in the past 20 years, they have won with 17 and placed 9 for a 47% strike and a lsp of +18 so we take the chance.
