Broken Spear 1pt win only 8/1 (340 Leicester) – 3 runs this term have been slightly underwhelming but he has had his sights lowered considerably here and could well bounce back from todays very workable mark. Will appreciate the under foot conditions today and has gone very close from a 7lb higher mark over this shorter trip on heavy ground previously. Yard don’t send many this way but have won with 2 from the 5 runners at the track.

Tuscan 0.5pt EW 25/1 4 places B365 (345 Haydock) – Has bags of potential given the opposition that he was running against last term for Charlie Hills. Has switched to D O Meara and looks the exact sort that this team excel with. Finished down the field in handicaps on his last 2 starts but had previously done plenty to suggest that this mark is far from beyond him. Connections have signalled their intentions by bringing in local jockey Richard Kingscote and this one can certainly cause an upset today.

Thunder Max 1pt win only 9/2 (130 Haydock) – Has slipped down the weights despite not doing a great deal wrong in against some pretty decent opposition last term. Returns from a year long absence here having been gelded and holds plenty of potential for improvement for a yard going well. Should be winning from this mark if ready to role after the lay off.

Justanotherbottle 1pt win only 17/2 (410 Ripon) – Has won 3 times from just 5 runs at the track albeit over the slightly longer trip of 6F. He does however have more wins over the minimum trip including on the soft conditions they will encounter here. Can be forgiven his latest run when slow away following a mishap with the blindfold and will most likely come on for that outing. Now sits some 5lb below his last winning mark and must go close here.

Oh Herberts Reign 1pt win only 10/1 (515 Ripon) – Needs to step up on recent efforts but is sitting on a very attractive mark given that he gets ideal trip and conditions today. Ran very well to finish a very close second in a very similar race last year under Hollie Doyle who will be riding today. That run came from a mark of 90 and he goes from 74 here today.

Magical Spirit 1pt win only 13/2 (645 Doncaster) – Has been in and out of form over the past 12 months and looks feasibly treated here as a result. Latest run was a big step back in the right direction and he has shown a liking for this track and conditions previously.

Kingofthewest 1pt win only 10/1 (625 Taunton) – A winner here over a slightly longer trip last term and that win was franked with another one at Exeter the following month. Yet to get going this term and as a result see’s his mark fall to one that is well below his best and now sits on a mark that is ready to be exposed. Was brought down at the first last time out and is sent out again here pretty quickly suggesting that the yard are aware of his current mark and possibly have him ready to go close. His form figures this term are non too flattering but a couple of his runs have come in races that have worked out pretty well so far so they don’t read as bad as they first appear.

Olivers Army 1pt win only 9/1 (435 Beverley) – Put in a much improved performance returned to the flat for the first time in 19 months and will have appreciated the run having been off for a short while following just 2 runs over obstacles in that period. Looks sure to appreciate this step up in trip today and conditions should hold no problems. Comes here with the yard going well and potentially sitting on a mark that is a bit of a blot on the handicappers.

Ibiza Rocks 1pt win only 9/1 (400 Beverley) – Put in a pleasing run on yard debut last time out and will likely improve for that run which came after a 6 month absence. On his best form he looks to be another sitting on a very workable mark and if coping with the step up in trip today could well get his head in front. Whether that will be the case however is a little contrasting as breeding suggests he doesn’t want the extra yardage but the way he has run when seen at his best says he does.

Le Beau Garcon 1pt win only 8/1 (220 Beverley) – CD winner who will need to leave his reappearance run well and truly behind him. Looks to be yet another who on his best form from last term is very well treated here. Ran well from a much higher mark last term in better company on more than one occasion and acquitted himself pretty well. Still lightly raced and open to improvement here if able to go on todays softer conditions.

Ran well upped in trip for the first time last time out and has also run well in behind a decent looking sort here at Plumpton before. Has potential to improve further still today with conditions looking favourable and on best novice form ought to be better than his current mark.

Pilbara 0.5pt EW 25/1 4 places (b365) (430 Plumpton) – Comes here with a little bit to prove on recent form but has been eased in grade here today and on best recent form from his run at Uttoxeter back in December, looks thrown in at the weights. Gets a further 5lb taken off by the talented Finn Lambert and with 4 places available we are tempted in for a punt. Champagne Gift rates a very interesting handicap newcomer upped markedly in trip today

Ayr Of Elegance 1pt win only 6/1 (345 Stratford) – Made all here to win in decent style last June and followed that up with another pleasing run over today CD next time out when upped in grade. Lacks a little bit of match fitness today but has gone well fresh from a break previously and returns here with conditions on side. Lily Pinchin’s 3lb off puts her back on her last winning mark for a yard that do pretty well around here.

Galop Du Bosc 1pt win only 6/1 (415 Stratford) – An unfortunate faller early on last time out but had previously put in a performance at Chepstow which makes todays mark look like a very workable one. The form of that race has worked out pretty strongly since and going here under similar conditions in the hands of the very talented Alan Johns has to hold excellent chances from an unaltered mark.

Forest Jump 1pt win only 7/1 (300 Plumpton) – Well beaten on handicap debut around here but stepped up markedly next time out on drying ground in a race that is working out very nicely. Gets similar quicker conditions today and the way in which he finished off that last race suggests that todays extra yardage will bring about yet further improvement. Eased a little by the handicapper for a yard that excels in these parts.

Aryaah 0.5pt EW 28/1 (715 Brighton) – Not shown much for this yard in two runs on the AW since joining from G Boughey but is worth another try now switched back to turf at a big price. Won twice in the spring last term for his previous yard and now sits 2lb below his last winning mark. Goes in the hands of a jockey who is a regular at the course and boasts a profitable LSP from a 13% strike so knows how to steer one round here.

Zafar 1pt win only 16/1 (215 Bangor) – Donald McCain comes into this race pretty mob handed with no less than 4 runners and off those 4 this one looks the best treated if you can forgive his last race in which nothing went right and included a couple of race ending errors. Granted a better round here today in the hands of the 5lb claiming Abbie McCain this one looks to be weighted to win, going some 9lb below his last winning mark and gets ideal conditions to boot.

Heartbreak Kid 1pt win only 14/1 (400 Bangor) – Another well handicapped McCain performer who will need to up his game here slightly but does take a dip in grade today from a massively reduced mark. Sits 7lb below his last winning mark and some 10lb below his second at Sandown in December is unexposed over todays longer trip and on breeding looks set to appreciate every yard having become expose over 2 mile.

Huddle Up 1pt win only 16/1 (345 Thirsk) – Way below the levels of form he had shown in Ireland before joining this yard but is given a chance here today with a little cut under foot which will suit, eased in grade and from a mark that is 5lb below his last win over the water. Gets a further 7lb taken off by the talented Gianluca Sanna who is highly regarded by these Northern yards.

Rawyaan 1pt win only 18/1 (615 Brighton) – CD winner who is now back on his last winning mark for the yard that have won 2 of the last 3 running’s of this races predecessor. Far less exposed than many of his rivals here and cannot be ruled out despite the big price today.

Madrinho 1pt win only 12/1 (545 Brighton) – CD winner who could well be sparked back to life by a return to turf today. Possibly not the force of old but if the return to a track that clearly suits brightens him up a little he would be very dangerous from todays mark. Went down by a nose over CD back in the summer from a 11lb higher mark and is 10lb below his last wining mark. Connections have a 22% strike rate at the track so clearly enjoy a day out in Brighton.

Returns from a break dropped in trip which could be significant should the yard have him ready as he will likely try and gun it from the front which is a tactic that will suit here over this trip as it often does.

Boudica Warrior 1pt win only 20/1 (630 Chelmsford) – A clearly tricky individual who has given connections a fair few headaches. Did however show a glimmer of something on the AW and offers something to work with here on reappearance for his new yard who excel at this venue. They are 6 from 18 here over the last 12 months for a 33% strike and have an overall LSP of +60 at the track. David Probert takes the ride and he boasts a very healty strike rate when teaming up with this yard too.

Spirit Of Nguru 1pt win only 7/1 (600 Chelmsford) – Hit the crossbar a couple of times before running into a very progressive looking handicapper in Silkie Wilkie. Completely flopped at Lingfield last time out when stripped of all the headgear and can be forgiven that run having been freshened up and going today in a first time visor. A clearly talented individual who they have struggled to get to grips with but here’s hoping that they have found the key now. Hollie Doyle takes over in the saddle and she has been in blistering form in the last few weeks so will be riding high with confidence.

Marada 1pt win only 12/1 (130 Cheltenham) – Yet to hit top gear since returning from an almost 2 year lay off but offered plenty of signs of encouragement last time out having a first run following wind surgery. Has been eased a further 5lb coming into this and its difficult to believe we have seen the best of what this one has to offer given how patient that this top yard have been with him.

Finished off last season with another pleasing run from a revised mark and could still have something to offer here returning for his season opener. Will be no gimme at these weights but gets conditions to suit and the yard are in good order at present. Connections are 4 wins from 16 runners at the track so enjoy a fair bit of success here too.

Master Sully 1pt win only 5/1 (345 Lingfield) – CD winner on his first start for this yard and only sits 2lb above that winning mark on a return to the track and trip. Connections have a good record here with around a 20% strike and a LSP of +26 and Holly Doyle’s booking looks pretty significant given her recent form. A big run can be expected. Cheek pieces applied for the first time.

Empirestateofmind 1pt win only 7/1 (300 Newmarket) – Could only manage 7th in the Lincoln but will no doubt come on for that run. Will enjoy conditions today more than most and a return to sit in waiting tactics could be just the ticket to success. Was ridden prominently last time out and that is not a tactic that is normally adopted.

Vafortino 1pt win only 15/2 (225 Newmarket) – Won the Ascot Victoria Cup on his second outing last season and comes here having had a very similar and pleasing prep race. Handles these softer conditions and being so lightly raced in recent times may just have a little improvement left to offer today. Yard are starting to fire so comes here no doubt in good order.
